I have two favourites, Only You, which is a cracking Ringo vocal, sounds simple until you try it and has more than a little Nilsson influence. It’s a brilliant cover. The other is more a car-crash type favourite Stop And Take The Time To Smell The Roses, a desperate sort of novelty song which depends more on the accompanying video than it should, but I don’t mind a silly song Now And Then . Also, hunt up the original vocal take, which is also bizarre.
I'm like Necko only I'm a bassist ukulele guitar synthesizer kazoo penguin and also everyone. Or is everyone me? Now I'm a confused bassist ukulele guitar synthesizer kazoo penguin everyone who is definitely not @Joe. This has been true for 2016 & 2017 but I may have to get more specific in the future.

I really like ‘Stop And Take The Time To Smell The Roses‘ due to how much fun it is and Ring just starts shouting at places, reminds me of the end of ‘Always Look At The Bright Side Of Life’.
Here’s the promo.

“…Stop! and take the time to buy this album, so I can plant roses and smell ’em all day long…”
Oh Ringo, you so silly! I’m still chuckling. =D
(corrected the song lyric haha)

I’ll list a few of my favorites, I’m just starting to find more of his music. Love his laid back mellow chill style and the silly stuff too. This list will get much longer as time goes on.
Woman of the Night, No No Song, Liverpool 8, Everyone Wins, Act Naturally , Instant Amnesia, It Don’t Come Easy, Photograph, Back off Boogaloo, Wrack My Brain, Snookeroo, Goodnight Vienna, Free Drinks – I keep adding them as I find ’em, but I’ll stop now.
That said, I highly recommend his “Very Best Of” CD. It’s awesome. Oo-Wee……

I really like this outtake from ‘Beaucoups of Blues’. Ringo’s voice suits it brilliantly.
Ringo really should go back and record a follow up to ‘Beaucoups of Blues’; it’s not like it would affect sales if no one liked the change away from everything since ‘Time Takes Time’.

Yeah he should, maybe not so many tragic lyrics this time around though!

From this article
A third track features Dave Stewart, which was originally written for a country album they intended to work on together before Ringo’s current All-Starr tour was scheduled. “We thought, ‘Well, we’ll get some songs together,’ so we did,” Starr says. “So there’s stuff around. We’ll do the country album another time now. There’s lots you can do.”
I hope he does get around to another country album.

I can’t possibly narrow it down to just two….but I’ll pick two from his early solo years and two from the 2000s. Seems fair, no?
Woman of the Night
Wrack My Brain
Liverpool 8
Everyone Wins
Edit: I lied, going to add one of my favorite covers since I consider those in a different league.

As much as the lyrics are as depressing as they come I really do like the song.

I doubt I’d be able to find anything to top “Early 1970” though. Is this the best song about the Beatles by a former Beatle?
‘God ‘ would get my vote, but these two are certainly connected… Leave it to John to state the cold hard reality of the situation and boldly declare to the world that “The Dream is Over”… but thankfully, Rings quickly dismisses this notion soon afterwards by simply dreaming on and we all followed the oldest and wisest of all Beatles in the process…:-)
