If the only sources of information that we could use to write a definition or description of love were officially released post-Beatles Ringo Starr songs, what would the definition of love turn out to be?
From Anthem
This is anthem, for peace and love
We’ve gotta keep trying, we can’t give up
Love is active. We shouldn’t get discouraged if there are setbacks. We have to keep spreading peace and love into the world.

There are different kinds of “love song”. Back when a friend of mine was hurting from a breakup, we got to talking about how the vast majority of love songs are celebrating a romantic love that’s swimming along just fine. A small minority, it seems, are about the pains of frustration or love loss. Ringo’s “Step Lightly” is a nice example of that genre:
Step lightly
Things will work out just fine
Nice and easy
All it takes is time
Please believe me
I wish this song was yours instead of mine…
Then a bit later, there’s Ringo’s twinklingly wise counsel of hope:
But in the meantime
Find yourself a love that’s true to you
But in the meantime
Find yourself a love that’s going to last

From Love Is
Love is here. / Everywhere it’s calling if you hear.
Love is opening your heart, it will appear.
It is all around us. We need to tune in to it to hear it. It is like tuning a radio to pick up a radio wave to hear it. It is always there flowing around us, but do we always listen?
It requires an action from us. We have to open our hearts before it will come to us.

Give More Love
So many hurting bad
Lost everything they had
It’s hard to know what we can doGive more love
Give more love
It’s what we know we need more of
From the heart
Let it start
To spread to everyone
Now it’s up to you
There’s something you can do
Give more love

It’s easy come, easy go and you don’t always see what’s coming for good, or for bad – lyrics from So Wrong For So Long
—-
From Wonderful
But when we look back
At how far we’ve come
We know we’re in it
For the long runThe worst it ever was was wonderful
Better than I ever dreamed
The worst it ever was was wonderful
‘Cause it’s always been you and me
I hope your heart would melt if someone said those words to you. It’s right there with Grow Old With Me .
