This is a strange topic, but I wanted to hear some member’s answers because of an issue that occurred recently. So I was practicing Hey Jude on my piano when my dad began telling me to cut it off and practice earlier. Night is the only time I could practice because I’m more focused.

Now the question do any members that plaleant instrument that produces loud noises, what time do you guys usually practice musical instruments? Night? Afternoon? Mid-day?

And if you saw my love, I'll love her to.

I play mostly an acoustic guitar and I usually fingerpick — I never use a plectrum — so my playing isn’t that loud.  I also don’t like to blast the music I’m playing along with — I like to modulate the sound so I can hear myself too.  Still, I tend to practice in the early afternoon to early evening — after my afternoon coffee and before dinner I feel most in the mood.

Sometimes I get out the cowbell and play pretty loudly but again, afternoons…

Faded flowers, wait in a jar, till the evening is complete... complete... complete... complete...

^ Same as FP, I don’t make that much noise when I practise (I too play acoustic guitar). My playing is terrible, though, so I tend to practise in the day just in case the neighbours can hear me, and also because by night my concentration has dropped so I find it more difficult to play.

Moving along in our God given ways, safety is sat by the fire/Sanctuary from these feverish smiles, left with a mark on the door.

This is an interesting topic, to say the least. I had never really thought about it too much, but I suppose most of my playing goes on in the later afternoon through to the early night. That’s mainly just because of my class schedule keeping me busy through the morning. I like to switch it up between my keyboard, guitar, and bass, but my main instrument is definitely my keyboard.

Generally about 2 or 3am for me. On weeknights. I like to take my guitar and amplifier out onto the balcony of my apartment and play “Helter Skelter ” and “Yer Blues ” – all the noisier songs from side three of the White Album , in fact – and bash away, with the volume at about 9 or so. I find it really relaxes me when I’m rattling the windows of the retirement home across the street, or setting off car alarms in front of the maternity hospital right next to it.

Paul: Yeah well… first of all, we’re bringing out a ‘Stamp Out Detroit’ campaign.
