Pretty good, man. However, here are some problems:

Flying used a J-160E plugged in

George uses a J-160E on I'll Be Back

Paul plays acoustic guitar on I'll Follow The Sun

George uses a Strat on Yes It Is and Tell Me What You See

It is most definitely Ringo playing Tabla on Within You Without You , as Anil was a one time thing for Love You To

There are no backing vocals on Roll Over Beethoven

And last but not least:

I'd do Rock And Roll Music like this:

John Lennon : Lead Vocals, Rhythm Guitar (1964 Rickenbacker 325)

Paul McCartney : Bass Guitar (1963 Hofner 500/1)?, Piano?

George Harrison : Rhythm Guitar (1963 Gretsch 6122 Country Gentleman)?, Bass Guitar (1963 Hofner 500/1)?

Ringo Starr : Drums

George Martin: Piano?

Flying does use a J-160E plugged in and I will be editing that

George might use a J-160E on I'll Be Back , I will look into that

According to Geoff Emmerick, Paul doesn't play an acoustic guitar on I'll Follow The Sun

It sounds like George is using a Strat on Yes It Is and Tell Me What You See . However, I have yet to see a source claim it is

It is possibly Ringo playing Tabla on Within You Without You , as Anil could've been reused from Love You To

There are no backing vocals on Roll Over Beethoven that I can hear, although everyone says there is

And last but not least:

Geoff Emmerick says Rock And Roll Music is like this:

John Lennon : Lead Vocals, Rhythm Guitar (1964 Rickenbacker 325)

Paul McCartney : Piano

George Harrison : Bass Guitar (1963 Hofner 500/1)

Ringo Starr : Drums

There is only 1 guitar in the song, so George clearly didn't have a guitar part, unless if he played exactly what John was playing which is not the case, as the guitar doesn't sound double tracked

Why suggest it's Ringo playing tabla on Within You Without You ? There is no basis for the suggestion.

The documentation shows that the Indian musicians were brought in from the Finchley Asian Music Circle. This includes the tabla player.

Is the suggestion seriously that it is properly documented that George and Neil Aspinall played tambouras alongside someone from the AMC, but that it's been forgotten by everybody since, including the man himself, that Ringo played the tabla?

I think there is a possibility that Ringo played Tabla (he is the drummer after all), although there is no documentation of it, hence why I put a question mark next to tabla. As for why Ringo doesn't remember it, it's not like anyone specifically asked Ringo "did you play tabla on Within You, Without You". Also, tablas look a lot like bongos and Ringo loves Bongos (you can hear them on several songs, such as You're Going To Lose That Girl ). Another possibility for the tabla player could be Anil Bhagwat, as it is possible that they liked his work on Love You To so much that they brought him back in again, as he was in the AMC and he got credit on the album (something that doesn't happen to everybody).

There's definitely two guitars, you can hear them most clearly in the 'verses' ('I've got no kick against modern jazz') when one guitar's backing the bassline and the other's strumming the chords, both in the right-hand channel.

Times I find it hard to say / With useless words getting in my waySuprised about this one.Sad about this one

Yep, can definitely hear two guitars, presumably John's Rick and George's Country Gent.

I thought I'd do a full analysis, leaning mainly on ear instead of sources, although using sources as far as if it was possible for that guitar to be in use:

John Lennon :

For the majority of Please Please Me , From Me To You , She Loves You , With The Beatles , and I Want To Hold Your Hand , John uses his 1958 Rickenbacker 325, although he switches to his 1962 Gibson J-160E for Anna (Go To Him), Ask Me Why , Thank You Girl , I'll Get You , All I've Got To Do , Till There Was You , Not A Second Time , and This Boy . I am unsure whether he plays guitar in Love Me Do and or Little Child .

For the majority of A Hard Day's Night , John uses George's 1962 Gibson J-160E, as his was stolen and he didn't get a new one until the Beatles For Sale sessions, he does, however plug in with his 1964 Rickenbacker 325 for I'm Happy Just To Dance With You , Tell Me Why , When I Get Home , and You Can't Do That , along with the entire Long Tall Sally EP and one his parts in A Hard Day's Night .

For the majority of Beatles For Sale and Help ! along with Yes It Is , John uses his 1964 Gibson J-160E, but plugs into his Rickenbacker 325 for No Reply , Rock And Roll Music , Kansas City , Ticket To Ride , Tell Me What You See , and Dizzy Miss Lizzy , along with I Feel Fine , She's A Woman , I'm Down , Bad Boy and one of his parts for both Baby's In Black and It's Only Love , he also uses his 1964 Framus 5/024 Hootenanny on Help !, You've Got To Hide Your Love Away , and one of his parts on It's Only Love .

For the majority of Rubber Soul , John uses his 1964 Gibson J-160E, although he does plug in to his 1964 Rickenbacker 325 for The Word , What Goes On , In My Life , and Wait , along with Day Tripper , he also uses his 1961 Fender Stratocaster on If I Needed Someone and the solo of Nowhere Man .

On Revolver , John uses his 1965 Epiphone ES-230TD Casino for Got To Get You Into My Life (although both his and George's parts are almost inaudible due to the brass band), while he opts for a 1963 Gretsch 6120 Nashville for She Said, She Said and Doctor Robert , along with both sides of the Paperback Writer single, and in the meanwhile chooses to use his 1964 Gibson J-160E for I'm Only Sleeping and Yellow Submarine and his 1964 Rickenbacker 325 for And Your Bird Can Sing . Also, I am unsure whether it's John or Paul on rhythm guitar on Here, There, And Everywhere, my guess it that it's John on his Casino, but Paul playing rhythm on that song seems like a possibility as well.

On Sgt. Pepper 's Lonely Hearts Club Band and Magical Mystery Tour , John uses his 1965 Epiphone ES-230TD Casino for Getting Better , When I'm 64, Sgt. Pepper 's Lonely Hearts Club Band (Reprise), Hello, Goodbye , Strawberry Fields Forever , and Baby You're A Rich Man , along with Hey Bulldog , It's All Too Much , and Lady Madonna , while he prefers to use his 1964 Gibson J-160E for Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds , Lovely Rita , A Day In The Life , Magical Mystery Tour , and The Fool On The Hill , along with All Together Now . I am unsure whether it's John or George playing rhythm guitar on Good Morning Good Morning , but if it's John, he most likely used a Strat.

For the majority of The Beatles, Abbey Road , and Let It Be , as well as all associated singles, John used his 1965 Epiphone ES-230TD Casino, now sanded to bare wood, although he used his 1964 Gibson J-160E for Glass Onion , The Continuing Story Of Bungalow Bill , Julia , Revolution 1 , Cry Baby Cry , Revolution 9 , and Hey Jude , as well as possibly one of his parts in Dear Prudence , while he switched to using George's 1968 Gibson J-200 for Maxwell's Silver Hammer , Two Of Us , and Maggie Mae , and switching to his 1964 Framus 5/024 Hootenanny for The Ballad Of John And Yoko , Polythene Pam , She Came In Through The Bathroom Window , and Across The Universe .

George Harrison :

For Please Please Me and associated songs, George used his 1957 Gretsch Duo Jet , except on the single version of Love Me Do , where he used his 1962 Gibson J-160E (despite popular belief, George didn't use his acoustic on the 1962 version because he didn't have it at the time).

For With The Beatles and associated songs, George used his 1962 Gretsch 6122 Country Gentleman, except on Till There Was You , where he used his 1950 Jose Ramirez DeEstudio. Also, cannot tell whether he is present on Little Child or Not A Second Time .

For A Hard Day's Night and associated songs, George used his 1963 Gretsch 6122 Country Gentleman on I Want To Hold Your Hand , This Boy , Tell Me Why , the solo of Can't Buy Me Love , Things We Said Today , When I Get Home , Long Tall Sally , the solo of Slow Down , and Matchbox , while he turned to his 1963 Rickenbacker 360/12 for A Hard Day's Night , I Should Have Known Better , If I Fell , I'm Happy Just To Dance With You , the chorus of Can't Buy Me Love , Any Time At All , You Can't Do That , I Call Your Name , and the majority of Slow Down , and went for his 1950 Jose Ramirez DeEstudio for And I Love Her and I'll Be Back , while turning to his 1963 Gretsch 6119 Tennessean for I'll Cry Instead .

For Beatles For Sale and associated songs, George used his 1963 Gretsch 6119 Tennessean on I'm A Loser , Baby's In Black , I'll Follow The Sun , Kansas City , the majority of Eight Days A Week , Honey Don't , I Don't Want To Spoil The Party , Everybody's Trying To Be My Baby , and I Feel Fine , while opting for his 1963 Gretsch 6122 Country Gentleman for Rock And Roll Music , Mr. Moonlight, and She's A Woman , while preferring a Rickenbacker 360/12 for the intro/outro of Eight Days A Week , Words Of Love , Every Little Thing , and What You're Doing , and choosing his 1962 Gibson J-160E for No Reply .

For Help ! and associated songs, George used his 1963 Gretsch 6119 Tennessean on Help !, The Night Before , Another Girl , Act Naturally , You Like Me Too Much , Dizzy Miss Lizzy , I'm Down , and Bad Boy , while switching to his 1961 Fender Stratocaster for You're Going To Lose That Girl , It's Only Love , Tell Me What You See , and Yes It Is , opting for his 1963 Rickenbacker 360/12 for I Need You and Ticket To Ride , choosing his 1950 Jose Ramirez for You've Got To Hide Your Love Away , and choosing John's 1964 Framus 5/024 Hootenanny for I've Just Seen A Face .

For Rubber Soul and associated songs, George used his 1963 Gretsch 6119 Tennessean on You Won't See Me , Think For Yourself , The Word , Michelle , What Goes On , I'm Looking Through You , In My Life , Run For Your Life , and Day Tripper , while choosing his 1961 Fender Stratocaster for Drive My Car , Nowhere Man , and Wait , and picking his 1965 Rickenbacker 360/12 for If I Needed Someone , his 1964 Framus 5/024 Hootenanny for Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown) and Girl, and his 1950 Jose Ramirez DeEstudio for Michelle .

For Revolver and associated songs, George used his 1965 Epiphone ES-230TD Casino for Taxman , Love You To , Here, There, And Everywhere, And Your Bird Can Sing , and Got To Get You Into My Life , while turning to his 1961 Fender Stratocaster for I'm Only Sleeping and I Want To Tell You , while picking his 1964 Gibson SG Standard for She Said, She Said, Doctor Robert , and Rain .

For Sgt. Pepper 's Lonely Hearts Club Band, George used his 1965 Epiphone ES-230TD Casino for Sgt. Pepper 's Lonely Hearts Club Band, With A Little Help From My Friends , Getting Better , and Sgt. Pepper 's Lonely Hearts Club Band (Reprise), while choosing his 1961 Fender Stratocaster for Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds and possibly Good Morning, Good Morning, while preferring his 1964 Gibson SG Standard for Fixing A Hole and opting for his 1962 Gibson J-160E on Lovely Rita .

For Magical Mystery Tour , George used his 1965 Epiphone ES-230TD Casino for Flying , Penny Lane , and Hello, Goodbye , while picking his 1961 Fender Stratocaster for I Am The Walrus , Strawberry Fields Forever , and All You Need Is Love , and opting for his 1964 Gibson SG Standard for Baby You're A Rich Man , all while picking the 1962 Gibson J-160E for Magical Mystery Tour and The Fool On The Hill .

For Yellow Submarine and associated songs, George used his 1965 Epiphone ES-230TD Casino on It's All Too Much , his 1962 Gibson J-160E on All Together Now , and his 1964 Gibson SG Standard on Hey Bulldog and Lady Madonna .

For The Beatles and associated songs, George used his 1957 Gibson Les Paul Standard on Back In The USSR , Dear Prudence , While My Guitar Gently Weeps (bass doubling during chorus), I'm So Tired , Birthday (despite popular belief, I believe it would make more sense for George to play the lead, as the bassline only uses the low 4 strings), Yer Blues , Sexy Sadie , Savoy Truffle , and Cry Baby Cry , while he picked his 1964 Gibson SG Standard for Happiness Is A Warm Gun , Everybody's Got Something To Hide Except For Me And My Monkey, Helter Skelter , Revolution 1 , Revolution 9 , and Revolution , while picking his 1961 Fender Stratocaster for Glass Onion and Hey Jude and using his 1968 Gibson J-200 for Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da , The Continuing Story Of Bungalow Bill , While My Guitar Gently Weeps , Piggies , and Long, Long, Long .

For Abbey Road and associated songs, George used his 1957 Gibson Les Paul Standard on Something , Maxwell's Silver Hammer , Oh! Darling , Octopus's Garden , Here Comes The Sun (yes, there is an electric guitar part in this song), Polythene Pam , Carry That Weight , and The End , while choosing his 1968 Fender Telecaster for Come Together , You Never Give Me Your Money , Sun King , She Came In Through The Bathroom Window , and Old Brown Shoe , opting for a 1968 Gibson J-200 on Here Comes The Sun and picking his 1964 Gibson SG Standard on I Want You (She's So Heavy).

For Let It Be and associated songs, George used his 1968 Fender Telecaster on Two Of Us , Dig A Pony , Dig It , Let It Be (single version), Maggie Mae , I've Got A Feeling , One After 909 , The Long And Winding Road , Get Back , and Don't Let Me Down , while picking his 1957 Gibson Les Paul Standard for Across The Universe , I Me Mine , and Let It Be (album version) and uses a 1968 Gibson J-200 on I Me Mine and For You Blue .

Come back next time for Paul's analysis, same bat page, same bat forum.

Since Love Me Do  was recorded live to two-track without any overdubbing, who's playing the acoustic rhythm guitar if not John? Or are you suggesting we are only hearing lead and bass guitars?

George most likely did the rhythm guitar in the song, however it is possible that John is playing rhythm guitar alongside George. If a stereo version existed of this song, I'd be able to determine this better, although sadly the only way to hear this song (along with PS I Love You , She Loves You , and I'll Get You ) is mono due to the masters being destroyed.

I do not understand what you're suggesting here, and on what basis.

I clearly hear a bass guitar, a lead guitar, and an acoustic rhythm guitar, which drops out during the harmonica parts. In every live performance John played the acoustic rhythm guitar part, with it following the record and dropping out when he did the harmonica parts.

Are you seriously suggesting that a) there are only two guitars, bass and lead, and that the acoustic rhythm guitar is somehow played by George on his electric; or b) on the very first Beatles session George Martin is giving them luxury of overdubbing George playing an acoustic rhythm guitar that John would spend the next couple of years playing live.

If you are going to ignore the accepted line-ups, @HMBeatlesfan, you should have a better reason than, "I think..."

Why do you reject a line-up that has been accepted for over fifty years?

I am just as confused as you are Ron Nasty, as I only hear one guitar in the song so if there is a second guitar present, it's most likely playing something very similar to the first one. Also, the single version sounds more like an electric guitar than the album version.

Maybe you should try posting more.

There's only one guitar part in the song, played by George, as only 1 guitar is heard and when you watch them play it live, John never actually strums his guitar.
