Who’s playing the fuzzy electric guitar on the Rubber Soul version of “I’m Looking Through You “?

I think it’s Paul. It sounds more like his flashy, frantic style than George’s slower, thoughtful style (Not saying that one is better than the other). The Anthology 2 take sounds more like George to me.

I’ve never seen anything beyond speculation that it isn’t George.  I know some have said it sounds like a McCartney solo thing and that it sounds rushed etc but, to me, that’s just a bit of anti-Paul bias feeding speculation.

I will say that I can appreciate that the style may sound more Paul.  Again, however, I’ve never seen anything beyond speculation – speculation often with an anti-Paul tinge.  Not to say you do Runforyourlife, but others do.

I agree, it has to be George, Paul was double tracked on acoustic on that track, and listen real close to the percussion, yes, Ringo is flicking the back of a pack of matches with his finger in time.  No joke….

Aren’t there two different electrics audible during the fade-out? One playing the little hammer-on lick and another one playing something of a little solo?

I’ll have to give it a close listening with headphones.

GEORGE: In fact, The Detroit Sound. JOHN: In fact, yes. GEORGE: In fact, yeah. Tamla-Motown artists are our favorites. The Miracles. JOHN: We like Marvin Gaye. GEORGE: The Impressions PAUL & GEORGE: Mary Wells. GEORGE: The Exciters. RINGO: Chuck Jackson. JOHN: To name but eighty.

There’s 2 electric guitar parts, the one that’s heard doing the riff sounds like Paul to me whereas the other one sounds like George.

If you're reading this, you are looking for something to do.
