Have we ever determined what's making that noise in "I Want To Hold Your Hand"?

Paul plays it on the bass, but there's something else playing it an octave higher.

I think that's addressed on the "I Want To Hold Your Hand" page - if not in the body of the article, maybe down somewhere among the comments. I vaguely recall it being identified as George playing a second bass guitar an octave higher, or something similar.
