I’m interested in seeing Paul’s letter but have no interest in buying any of the letters. I gave buying Beatles merchandise ages ago but even if i did i’d want it authenticated first so i knew what i was buying was a letter from Paul or John and not from Jim who wrote it on the 27th May 2004.
As for my opinion; i have no idea, sorry.

If you remember, hucko, it previously said “A Beginning” there. These are Forum Ranks based on the amount of posts made. In mine you will see it says “Apple Rooftop” (which is the top Forum Rank). If you look just above the thread title on the page, and look to the right side of the page, just below the “Select Forum” box, you will see a medal there, press that and it shows all the Forum Ranks, and the amount of posts needed to attain each one.
I’d also be interested in seeing the Paul letter, but as I said previously, this place is probably to be looking for buyers.

Hucko, I don’t think you will see very many people on here willing to go against the word of Ron Nasty about the authenticity of the letters. He knows his Beatles stuff.

Offline I found the one posted by Ahh Girl when I did an online search prior to purchasing mine. I believe mine is the final version sent to Mal on Apple letterhead, the other being a sort of first draft. The other has many fold lines as if quickly written and pocketed. Mine has two fold lines as if from being in an envelope.
Regarding the accident, all I know about it is that it was some sort of minor ‘fender bender’.

Offline I seem to remember when researching this piece that in one article the accident was in Los Angeles in the late 1960s.
Any thoughts on this letter as compared to the one auctioned?

Offline I’m no expert (except at textperts), but to me it looks as if the McCartney letter in question could have easily been forged from the other letter. The paper looks newer, and the ink is a different color.

Offline Expert Textpert…Thanks…I agree one could have been forged from the other, but if that were the case I would think they would have tried to adhere more closely to the original wording, especially with all the effort that would have gone into reproducing Paul’s handwriting and signature so closely.
The fact that it is on Apple letterhead (or just Apple notepaper) I think lends it a bit more credibility. The paper does have Apple address info on the bottom as well – it just isn’t shown in the photo.
Anyway, I am going to send photos off to a major auction house. They say they will get back with an estimated value within 4 to 6 weeks. I will let you folks know what they say.

Offline Sorry…I deleted my original photos just because I prefer not to leave them sitting on an internet forum indefinitely after they have been reviewed by a few people…It’s just a personal thing.
I would like to request that Ahhh Girl remove the screenshot of the Paul letter as well now that most people who would be intersted in commenting have likely already done so. Thanks!

Offline Yes, an adjusted title would seem to be appropriate. Should I able to do that myself or does a moderator/administrator need to do it? I don’t see just yet how to do it myself. I would suggest appending “and Paul McCartney letter to Mal Evans” to the thread title if there is room for that many characters.
