Discussing it as an idea generally interests me, creating fantasy albums doesn’t.

You’ve just put him in front of the Dirty Mac instead of John, and how could Eric be recording a song for a 1973 album that wasn’t written until 7 September 1976?

I guess my preferred type of humour doesn’t include repeating the same exaggeration about someone’s character ad nauseam but hey, whatever gets you through the night, I guess. You may have noticed I didn’t specify anyone, nor did I resort to insults. I hardly think that’s the way to treat each other around here, do you?
Anyway, to stay remotely on topic, I am actually not that interested in the whole supergroup idea, but I do sometimes wonder what Paul’s output would’ve sounded like if he hadn’t insisted on having Linda in the band. He obviously had to keep some of the vocals and most of the keyboard parts very simple; would his music have been better if that role had been filled by someone who had better chops? And, expanding on that, would someone with a more solid musical background have been able to challenge Paul into being more critical about what he released?

Her nut roast chops were a little unorthodox but always got cracking reviews. She also made Butterfly Wings as a dessert either served with whipped or pouring cream.

Give it a try, I dare you, I might even give you a Beatles fun fact that you may or may not know in exchange.
This is the kind of thing I like to do, only I make up imaginary song titles instead of a lot of covers. (I once created a fictional Led Zeppelin followup to “In Through The Out Door” (complete with cover art/song lengths/instrumental lineups) for a thread on a Led Zeppelin forum and everybody said it was as useless a thread/endeavour as they’d ever seen! So f**k em.)
I wouldn’t have minded seeing Paul collaborate with Jeff Lynne in ELO – they have similar aesthetics, and Paul’s a much better singer.

I’ve always though Mr. Blue Sky was very Beatlesy.

I cannot stand ELO. So pathetically boring and dreary a band if ever there was one.
Jeff has spent his entire life trying to make everything he ever did sound Beatley by ripping off the Beatles. His dreams got met when he got to work with George and then was allowed to produce the Beatles reunion songs – I’d love to know if he was the one who fixed ‘Free As A Bird ‘ and ‘Real Love ‘ on ‘1+’ as the 2015 remixes are noteworthy for having balls (pardon the non-PC term) for the first time.
‘Brainwashed‘ taken as an album and played thru I cannot stand as the production is so samey the whole way. Have some imagination for f**k sake.
I will admit his collaborations on a few ‘Flaming Pie ‘ tracks are decent (‘Some Days’, ‘Souvenir’) but even that album has faded substantially in my eyes – all the Stevie Miller co-tracks should be wiped from human consciousness due to how amazing beyond words s**t they are. If I thought I could win I’d sue for having to subject myself to ‘If You Wanna’ however never to let me down Jeff pops up on the describing-it-as-one-of-the-most-horrific-ear-bleeding-Paul-songs-ever-to-s**t upon-the-entire-cosmos-would-be-far-too-kind ‘Really Love You’. There are a good handful of appalling throwaways that should never have seen the light of day on a Paul album (much of what’s on ‘Pipes Of Peace ‘ for example) and ‘Really Love You’ would be up there. 5 minute 18 seconds of the most rancid kind of diarrhoea known to man.

Haha, I’d like to see it again myself! Unfortunately it was like 6 years ago and I can’t even remember what Led Zep forum it was, as it was on my previous computer. And I can’t remember any of the fake song titles or fake album title I made up. All I can recall is that the fake cover art was this painting
with a fancy 1970s Cadillac-esque car cut-and-pasted on top of the horizon.

I just stumbled across this Telegraph article from a few years back:
https://www.telegraph.co.uk/cu…..ooted.html
I’m sure this was probably covered somewhere on the forum at the time of the article, but speaking about it now, Paul being involved in some sort of jazz-rock fusion supergroup with Hendrix and Miles Davis would’ve been a rather interesting, yet unusual caper, but even if Paul was there to respond to the telegram himself, I personally don’t see how this would’ve worked.

Mmmm…would have been very interesting indeed but not necessarily in a good way….
Anyway, wings might not have been a supergroup but they were definately a super group……..

Wow, I knew about Jimi hoping to collaborate with Miles and Tony Williams but had no idea that Paul was considered as bassist…Jimi must’ve really rated Paul’s bass skills (assuming that was his own choice), or possibly their friendship was closer than I’d realized.
I can’t imagine Paul being in a band with an emphasis on improvisatory jamming and without much room for singing/songwriting – or at least not for a long term. Fun to imagine a one-off collaboration, though. Think of Paul deciding on the kind of what-the-hell solo career where he could switch between pop projects and more experimental things at will!
