Does anybody remember when this thread was not-perverted?

@LHL I’ll knit him some jumpers for you, if you want? I can make Mr. Bean’s teddy bear for Beatrice as well and I’d say I could have a go at knitting a burger a-hard-days-night-george-10

I’d like to think the drug questions elevated it at least to a level of “tawdry.”

Paul, do you ever read things in the papers or online that make you just want to scream out loud, wonder where humanity is heading, and wish someone would push the reset button?

Have you ever wanted to punch a reviewer or interviewer? Anyone recently? Who?

Did parents of the 1960s see the Beatles in the same light as we now see Miley?

I hope Paul gives Bob a a-hard-days-night-paul-11 and moves on with his happy self.

I think it depends on your tastes of Paul’s writing while he was with the Beatles. Yes he still has it, granted he’s not sounding spry and young anymore… he sounds his age… but his songwriting and ear for melody are as sharp as ever. If you don’t own a McCartney solo album yet, I’m not sure New might be the place to start. Something like Ram  (Paul at his peak) or Run Devil Run  (Paul older but tearing through some early rock and roll with ease) might be better intro albums if you’re looking for solo Paul stuff.

OK, I’m having a bit of a problem with the way the quotes are handled in this forum. I hope I quoted the right post I’m responding to. I have McCartney and Ram , love those records. I didn’t grow up with the Beatles. They broke up when I was only 5. Paul’s Wings turned me on to the mighty Fabs. The Macca/Grohl/Novoselic/Smear tune proved that Paul can still rock hard in his 70s, but he doesn’t make any music like that on his own. Why does he still put out records? They must suck ass. Obviously, mainstream radio won’t play him, but all they play is crap anyway. Only college and Internet radio play real music any more – but if Paul was still putting out good tunes, wouldn’t the underground play it? I have heard Ringo tunes on college radio and they are horrible.

So, speaking to you all as a lifelong fan of Paul – what good records has he made since Band On The Run [i/]?

OK, there were some good tunes on [i]Back To The Egg , but try to hip me to stuff after that.

And thanks for the welcomes to the boards. No other band gets this continued attention after so many years. Hail The Beatles!

My album suggestions are Electric Arguments and Flaming Pie

Some individual tracks you might like: “Rinse the Raindrops,” “Growing Up Falling Down,” “The Pound Is Sinking,” “Lovers that Never Were,” “Only Mama Knows,” “Summer of 59.”

I’d nominate McCartney II , quite experimental at the time but a very good listen, and Flowers In The Dirt , Paul’s return to critical and commercial success no doubt helped by working with Elvis Costello, one of the best artists Paul has written with (after John of coursea-hard-days-night-john-5).

Buried down in the archives is the “Best post-Beatles McCartney songs” where folks here discuss and nominate songs and Relatively new to McCartney–need some help which does the same for the albums (well kind of). There are others if you have a rummage about and don’t mind getting dusty.

PAUL!!!!!! Did you have to use “pop up” for these concerts? LHL, mccartneyalarm, HeyTrude, sky999 and I have a hard enough time keeping our minds untangled without you saying you’re going to pop up in Covent Garden.

^^^Ahhh Girl – great minds think alike.  When I read about the “pop-up” prior to coming to this post…I giggled to myself here at work, thinking I wonder what my fan-girls are going to say to this!! You didn’t disappoint me :)
