Jenny Wren and Friends to Go from Chaos And Creation In The Backyard Nineteen Hundred Eighty Five from Band On The Run is fantastic. And Calico Skies from Flaming Pie is beautiful, one of my favorites.
Love all of Band On The Run , but yeah the piano riff on Nineteen Hundred And Eighty Five is epic. I’ll give those other three a listen. I wanna learn the Song We Were Singing on guitar from Flaming Pie . I get the vibe from some of the backing vocals at around 1:30 on that Paul is imitating Johns voice. ;( Sadness setting in.

I’m building my Paul collection as well right now. I’m thinking of alternating between building up to the complete catalog of a solo Beatle and another artist now that I’ve got all of the Beatles stuff. I’m starting with Paul, any ideas for another artist of build?

Offline Can’t go wrong with Nirvana or Dylan. Nirvana might be quicker to complete , which might be nice since Paul’s catalog is so deep. Don’t know if you like Bowie I am kind of on a 70’s kick at the moment.

Actually Bowie was the third one I was considering. I might pair Dylan with John, because John (tragically) has a short catalog in comparison.

Offline Yeah I have all of Johns. Bowie stuff is interesting. Love Fame by John and Bowie and Carlos Alomar riff is great. Big fan of Walls And Bridges . Just stumbled across On the Way on McCartney II , great track. Here a bluesy Hendrix influence, nice rocker.

The b-sides and other tracks buried on the Flaming Pie era singles are well worth checking out, things like Broomstick, Love This House, Same Love. Fabulous songs. Some were recorded in the mid-80’s for an album that was left in the vaults yet are far better than was put out.
On The Way is one of my favourite Paul songs. 
There is a thread on the great Paul songs (Best Post-Beatle Paul Songs), would advise checking it out.

Offline Love the count in On The Way. Sounds like he had alot of fun making McCartney II . Wonder if Macklemore nicked the idea fro his song Same Love from Paul? TLC definitely did from Waterfalls on M2.

Yes: If you like McCartney, you’ll also like Elvis Costello (the first 5 or so albums, not the later stuff) and Squeeze.
In fact, there are a number of McCartney-McManus (E Costello) recordings out there that I particularly like (there’s a thread on that here somewhere); Squeeze’s two writers/singers were at some point going to be the next Lennon-McCartney.
By the way, anyone on a McCartney kick right now should check out the link below from this Forum. 2 great stories.

Offline I’ve been listening to Chaos and Creattion a lot these days. It’s such a touching and beautiful album! Can’t stop listen to it. “How Kind of You” is already one of my favs at the moment. New is another album that it’s really good to listen all the time, the songs are so fun!

I LOVE Chaos And Creation. Fantastic. Not the most upbeat of albums, but I’d say it might be his best solo work. (I’m not a huge Ram fan)

Offline House of Wax, this line in particular
Buried deep below a thousand layers. Lay the answer to it all.
Here comes the psychobabble. It isn’t enough for a spoiler alert, but feel free to quit reading now.
How are we to get the answer to the secret to ourselves (find our key as Paul sings about in Alligator)? Is it through steady digging and contemplation into our psyche? Or do we wait for a huge earthquake to split the ground so we can get it unexpectedly (Out Of The Blue , blindsided)? Do those two go hand-in-hand or are they mutually exclusive? Is it ever attainable? Do we know when we are reaching layers 997+ and the answer is within reach? Would we be disappointed if we found the answer? If we were to find it, would it scare us or make us more free? Would we bury it again quickly before anyone else saw it? Should we not care that the answer is down there/deep down in us and just go on living a shallow life? Should we hope that it is never uncovered?

Offline Interesting. I’ve never been a lyrics guy, I prefer to listen to the music, and when I do like lyrics, they’re not particularly deep (“I am the son of a bitch and Edgar Allen Poe”-St. Jimmy), but lyrics can be interesting.
Honestly in this case, the whole thing just makes my head hurt. I’ll say I probably wouldn’t want the answer to everything, life would get boring.
Humorous side note: Whenever I hear House Of Wax, I think of the horror movie (which I’ve never seen.) When I first learned Paul had a song called House Of Wax, I thought, “did Paul really write a song for the soundtrack of a slasher movie?”
