The recent discussion about Magneto and Titanium Man got me thinking about Helen Wheels which employs a similar kind of musical recreation of a driving car. Then there’s Get Out of My Way with its urgent driving, “heading to see her now.” We could even go back to Drive My Car with its Beep Beep chorus.
Any other songs of Paul’s about cars or driving?

These 2 pop into my mind immediately.
Why don’t we drive in the rain
Straight to the eye of the hurricane
Go for a ride in the driving rain
12345 Let’s go for a drive
678910 Ooh Ooh
12345 Let’s go for a drive
678910 Let’s go there and back again

You and me Sunday driving
One sweet dream
Pick up the bags and get in the limousine
Soon we’ll be away from here
Step on the gas and wipe that tear away
I look high, I look low
I’m looking everywhere I go
Looking for a home in the Heart Of The Country

Thanks. Some good suggestions there. I certainly should have remembered The Back Seat Of My Car . Not sure about Heart Of The Country , though.

I tend to think of Paul’s ’84 Everly Brothers contribution “On The Wings Of A Nightingale” as a car song – but that’s entirely because of the video, as the song is actually more about flight…

If I recall correctly, Paul said that the lyrics:
I look high, I look low
I’m looking everywhere I go
Looking for a home in the Heart Of The Country
are about Paul and Linda driving around looking for a country home – away from the busyness of their London house.

I’m jamming to my tunes while painting the outside of my house. I’m listening to Tug Of War right now.
Take It Away
Lonely driver
Out on the road
With a hundred miles to go
Sole survivor
Carrying the load,
Switches on his radio
