Singer Phil Collins is no longer a fan of Beatles legend Sir Paul McCartney . The In The Air Tonight crooner recalls meeting McCartney more than 10 years ago at a Buckingham Palace event but felt disappointed when their encounter did not go as planned.
Collins, 65, was excited to meet McCartney, 74, at the Queen's Golden Jubilee celebrations in London in 2002 and asked the musician to sign a copy of Hunter Davies' book The Beatles. Recalling their interaction, Collins told the Sunday Times: "I said, 'Hey Paul, do you mind signing this for me?' and he said, 'Oh Heather [Mills], our little Phil's a bit of a Beatles fan."
He continued: "And I thought, 'You f**k, you f**k.' Never forgot it. McCartney was one of my heroes. But he has this thing when he's talking to you, where he makes you feel... [like], 'I know this must be hard for you, because I'm a Beatle. I'm Paul McCartney and it must be very hard for you to actually be holding a conversation with me'."

Awww, did Philly get his feefees hurt? Maybe Paul was a jerk, maybe he wasn't. It could've just been a joke. We don't even know the context. But let's assume Phil's right and Paul was rude for no apparent reason. He was with Heather at the time, which didn't seem to have the best effect on his character.
To hold onto that for 14 years and making a big stink of it seems a bit childish to me. Why didn't Phil just call Paul out on it, or discuss it later? Perhaps Paul had a good reason for saying what he did, assuming Phil recalls it correctly. Maybe he just had a bad day. Human beings who are normally quite amiable, can act like jerks for all sorts of reasons...
Anyway, I still love Paul after reading this, and I still love Phil too...

I don't know why you feel that what Paul said needs a justification, Kitty. You also can't blame Heather Mills for him saying something so condescending.
I don't think Phil is being overly dramatic for holding on to that for so long. He was a really big fan and Paul disappointed him. A similar thing happened to my brother with a member of the Smashing Pumpkins. It's hard to keep on looking up to somebody like that after them making you feel bad.
Paul might not have meant anything by calling him "little Phil," though, because I call people "little baby ____" all the time, and I don't mean it in a condescending way. That's just how I talk.

Phil worked with Paul on the Press To Play sessions, and he has played drums during a live performance of Hey Jude before with Paul and Elton John singing, so it's not like they're strangers. They have probably worked together on other occasions as well, so I don't know why he had to take that attitude.
It's no secret that Phil is a Beatles fan. He appeared as a boy in the audience during the movie, "A Hard Day's Night " and as a teenager even played tambourine on the "All Things Must Pass " album.

If there's anything to get pissed off at Paul about, it's the fact that they removed The Beatles off of YouTube. It's bad enough that the songs themselves are removed, but even the isolated tracks are removed. I was trying to watch Deconstructing The Beatles to determine whether or not there's an acoustic guitar in Dear Prudence , but the video got blocked and using a proxy doesn't work either. Also, you were right about Phil in A Hard Day's Night :
I wish I knew someone who had this important of a role.

Wasn't Phil's mom a rather reputable booking agent? Maybe that's how he got his place as an extra in that scene in AHDN . It probably would have gotten his foot in the door as to being in the crowd anyway, no? Maybe?
And Paul's remark does read kind of condescending, at least to me, but I wasn't present to hear Paul's tone. He might not have meant it that way. Still it's not anything I'd hold a long time grudge over or carry around with me like that.

Maybe I should be mad at Paul too. His assistant pretty much said I was going to meet him, and then he didn't follow through on it. Forget the fact that I may have misinterpreted his words, or that the bloke simply may have forgotten, I really ought to blame Paul for it. Right?
All joking aside, I'm not saying Paul wasn't rude. We're missing a lot of context to know one way or the other; this is only Phil's side of things after all. But let's assume he was just being a jerk. Phil and Paul aren't exactly strangers. He could've just said something to the extent of, 'no need to be a cunt, mate', or made light of it by saying something like 'someone has to like that shit, or you'd be out of a job'.
Either way, it doesn't seem a big enough slight to remain that bent out of shape over for so many years. What if Paul realises he was an arse and decides to apologise, those words are now out there for eternity. Just another reason for those who hate Paul to dislike him some more.
TL;DR I just don't get what the fuss is all about. *shrugs*

Phil announced a new tour yesterday. Perhaps his press agent told him to grab some headlines.
He turned up to the press conference with a black eye so maybe he bumped into Paul again ....or @Mademoiselle Kitty .

Is this really a story? 'Macca In Unpleasant Moment Shock.'
We all know Paul has that side to him as does every person under the sun. As if Phil in the last 45 years hasn't been unpleasant to one of his fans?

I don’t believe Paul is above and beyond being a jerk. He’s human after all, and his ego has been inflating on and on for decades. Remember he was a bit of an ass when the band was coming to an end, bossing people around and trying to be “the one in charge”. It’s as I always say: focus on the music, not on the people.
By the way @sgtpepper63, no more Beatles on YouTube? Shame on Paul or whoever decided it should be so.

Apple decided to take all Beatles music offline. If you want to blame Paul for that, then you should give equal blame to Yoko, Ringo, and Olivia because Paul does not = Apple, and Apple does not = Paul.
Also, @Oudis, Paul wouldn't have needed to take the reins if John hadn't checked out, would he? All he did was help them earn a shitload of money. What a jerk... And of course, the others were never pushy. They were always utterly sweet, gentle, and pleasant.... It's all Paul's fault. All of it.
Right?

Paul was acting like an ass when he young, there are tons of accounts from people saying that in the early Beatles days Paul could be either highly charming or highly obnoxious and unpleasant. He's human for goodnessake but yeah lets moan about the fact that he's something we all are at some point.
Apple started taking down the Beatles from YouTube around the time they started streaming the music, the promo videos were culled in the lead-up to '1+'. It was a business decision as why let folk play it freely when you've made it available at a cost.

Everyone uses Adblock nowadays, and that means no ad revenue. Also, sites like Savetube allow people to download videos and even convert them into MP3, so that also ends the influx of money.

Spin Magazine weighs in:
For anyone who has sat through an interview with Paul McCartney ever, Collins’ anecdote about the former Beatle should seem both outrageous and 100% believable...
...If you’ve seen that scene in the Let It Be movie where the rest of the band and Billy Preston are happily jamming, and then Paul walks in and they all stop and look sad, you may be inclined to stand with Phil on this one.
