I never bothered with either ‘Wild Life ‘ or ‘Red Rose Speedway ‘ as the bonus tracks on the double cd’s were mostly pointless filler, a good few lasting less than a minute and I’m not paying for the boxes. All of which is just plain daft as it’s money I would be willing to spend but Paul isn’t getting. Yet I have good faith that the 50th ‘JL/POB’ and ‘ATMP ‘ (unconfirmed but very likely) will be far more sensibly priced and contain far better material (I ignore the 50th ‘LIB ‘ as it’s the Beatles and I know fine well that I’ll be buying it even if it is priced insanely high (tho I do have my limit); I am only captive to the Beatles not the solo works).
If the JL/POB box is anything like the Imagine box was, I’ll be throwing my $60odd at it without thinking. If Paul could make that but with his albums, he’d have a box more than worth buying. I’d even say that $250 would be worth it.

“Ballad of the Skeletons” doesn’t appear to be anywhere in any of the downloadable album sites. Was it dropped, or is it only on the physical release?
Looking at the track listings, it appears to be on the Deluxe and Collectors physical releases only ie not vie download or the deluxe. No doubt it will turn up online at some point and folk will download it for free. Why anyone would change to the far more expensive editions for one song is a mystery but it must have sounded like a great idea when figuring all the editions out.

It’s on YouTube, as expected.

I just entered a contest to win the Flaming Pie Archive box. I can’t remember if it was the box with the records or not. We will see if I win.

For anyone who hasn’t given up all interest in this ongoing series of reissues, there is talk of a possible upcoming release of the final two Wings albums that haven’t yet seen an Archive reissue: ‘London Town ‘ and ‘Back To The Egg ‘.
Whether Paul gives us what we want (a ton of outtakes, live tracks, rarities etc) or what no one gives a toss about (limited edition bits of replica paper, egg shell fragments, pieces of a 1978 London Map) is another matter.
That we will see the 60th anniversary of ‘Band On The Run ‘, 13 years after that album was the first in the Archive collection, before the Archive ‘Press To Play ‘ or ‘Give My Regards To Broad Street ‘ sets are even out sums it all up.

Flaming Pie and Flowers In The Dirt were the only two satisfactory archive releases imo, aside from the fact that they were absurdly expensive. I guess Paul and I are on the same page where we are better off just pretending Broad Street and Press To Play don’t exist.

‘McCartney II ‘ was brilliant as you could get all the bonus tracks for about £25 in FLAC from Paul’s website (the additional tracks on ‘McCartney’ let that one down). No need to waste another £150 on a box.
Was thoroughly annoyed when that option disappeared with the next set (‘Ram ‘?).

must have been asleep for that one. That’s the simplicity I’m looking for in a release. Don’t have any more space on my shelf for these box sets in my apartment anyway but I guess it was too convenient for fans to get their hands on what they want.

Was hoping to see these released before the end of the year. It appears that won’t be the case. JFC, the gaps between releases keep getting wider and wider…

He’s still releasing books.Where is the archive collection?
Is there anyone left who cares? Wasn’t ‘Band On The Run ‘, the first of the series, 13 years ago? Children have been conceived, born and are now well into their school years.

Can’t be bothered finding the right thread.
With a 50th anniversary ‘BOTR’ release coming which contains early mixes of the album tracks, does this now mean we will have the Archive releases, if they still are happening, running alongside 50th anniversary releases which will also include unreleased mixes?
13 years into the Archive series we still wait for ‘London Town ‘ and ‘Back To The Egg ‘ and the rest of Paul’s catalogue and it’s now being lapped by other archive releases (the upcoming ‘BOTR’ contains the original US album) but which are not archive releases. My guess is everyone got bored and gave up with this series.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Band On The Run is the only album that gets a 50th anniversary release like this. It wasn’t done for his first four albums, and Band On The Run has been the most successful sales-wise.
