So here are the rules for the second round onwards:
– Two posters should come up with a track each (out of non-album singles, Archive bonus tracks and unofficially released material) to put forward as a nomination for our ultimate lost McCartney solo album for everyone else to vote on.
– Voting period lasts four days, including the day voting is announced to begin. Peppdog will announce when voting ends anyways if you are worried about time zones.
– If you posted one of the songs yourself, you are allowed to vote for the other track if you wanted to, but you cannot vote for your own track.
– Ideally, there should be newly picked songs for each round. However, If more than one person agrees the losing track in one round is too good to pass off, it can be put up against another track in the next round. But If the track loses that round, it cannot be re-nominated anymore.
– There will be 12 songs on this album, meaning 12 voting rounds.
Here’s the track-list of winning songs so far, along with who originally posted them:
1. A Love For You (posted by SgtPeppersBulldog)
2. Cage (posted by Beatles In The Brain)
3. Waterspout (posted by getbackintheussr)
4. Oh Woman , Oh Why (posted by Fiddy in the third round, re-nominated by getbackintheussr and Holey)
5. Back On My Feet (posted by sir walter raleigh)
6. I Want To Come Home (posted by SF91)
7. Once Upon A Long Ago (posted by SF91)

So here’s an idea I have, Forumpool – we come together in compiling a track-list everyone can agree on out of say, non-album singles, bonus tracks from the Archive releases and even unofficially released material on YouTube to create our own ideal lost McCartney solo album. We’ll need a method for nominating tracks and also need to decide how many.
What do you guys think of this idea? I think it could be fun!

This sounds like a really cool idea! Has anyone else heard the “Paul McCartney Piano Tapes?” The sound quality is pretty terrible (at least on the CD version I have) but I still like it a lot and think some of the tracks could be on here. Has anyone seen this on YouTube? If not, is there a way to post audio files on here?
Isn't he a bit like you and me?

Sounds fun and educational to me! We could call it… McCartney III .

I guess this is happening then? I still haven’t decided a method by which we nominate songs (although I do have my own choice for an opening track in mind). Did the polls get removed? I think we’ll need to get this out of the way before we start picking songs.

McCartney III sounds like a cool name
I've been up on the mountain, and I've seen his wondrous grace,
I've sat there on the barstool and I've looked him in the face.
He seemed a little haggard, but it did not slow him down,
he was humming to the neon of the universal sound.

One of my all time favorite McCartney outtakes is the Bip Bop > Hey Diddle > I am Your Singer. He’s got his kids with him on the farm in the recording it sounds like.
I’m also a huge fan of the augmented chord he throws into the Chorus of Every Night of Unplugged so that should go in there too.
The whole Chaos and Creation Period is chock full of great live and studio bootlegs that @IveJustSeenAFaceo talks about here
Probably have to include the John Bonham version of Beware My Love.
The alternate Red Rose Speedway is out there, but probably better to not take bits and pieces unless people are extremely attached to a particular RRS outtakes. (They’re all great)
Some highlights from the Ram period:
Sunshine Something
When The Wind Is Blowing
A Love For You (great song)
Drive All Night and Great Cock and Seagull Race could go on an extra side like the ATMP Apple Jams.
Flowers In The Dirt has a load of great outtakes from the archive release. I love how Elvis Costello and Paul do a bit of a Lennon/Mccartney style studio session, singing in unison, trading off lines, and breaking into harmony. My vote would go to
Twenty Five Fingers
You Want Her Too
That Day Is Done
I’ll look over my Wings bootlegs and come back with more.

Another thing I think there should be four contenders for each track which we vote on, but the people who posted them can’t vote themselves. Once we’ve decided the number of tracks for this “album” of ours and the voting deadlines (I’d say roughly a day), I’m happy to begin this!

Sorry…
Four contenders is a good idea but is Four too many? I would err towards three.

Thinking about it, yeh that’d probably be better. I should also say @sir walter raleigh, I know you posted some suggestions for tracks already, but you can bring those up again and nominate them when this properly gets going it you wanted to.
So it looks like I’m the moderator of this idea. Like I’ve already said, I have a contender for the opening track myself that I will nominate, but after the first round, I’ll just be just gathering the votes and announcing the winning tracks, not suggesting any more tracks myself. If everyone’s happy with the voting time for the tracks being a day long (well, a 24 hours for me – I’ll post when you cannot longer vote), we can begin!

Okay, my nomination for the first track of this album is the brilliant A Love For You, written and recorded during the RAM sessions and was remixed as a bonus track for the Archive edition. I personally think this has all the qualities of being a terrific album opener.
The next two posts in this thread should just be two more nominations, and then we can begin voting.(but remember, I or the two others who will post won’t be able to vote ourselves.)

This gets a full endorsement from me. I’ve actually been on a massive kick of this song. This would be the best song on many of Paul’s albums.

I’ll do the next nomination?
Paul’s version of Must Do Something About It. Drummer Joe English does a nice job singing the album version, but Paul’s delivery is one of a kind.
