I was referring to the current form in which it’s done, mmm. You can’t really compare a John Lennon tribute concert to a random Paul McCartney tour, can you?
Well it wasn’t expressed clearly. So we’re both correct so an apple shared.

I am afraid @meanmistermustard has this wrong, @Mademoiselle Kitty >^..^<.
It was not performed at the John Lennon Tribute Concert held at the Pier Head on 5 May 1990.
It was pretty much the end song of his “Let It Be Liverpool” Concert at the King’s Dock on 28 June 1990.
It was also part of his show in Glasgow, and at the Music Cares “Masters of Music” performance at Knebworth.
Paul’s contribution to the John Lennon Tribute Concert was a filmed performance of the execrable PS Love Me Do (while Ringo contributed a great I Call Your Name – I think, off the top of my head).
EDIT: Here the performance is prefaced by Paul talking about it, it was his first Liverpool concert in over a decade:

I’m sad that he’s not coming to Vegas. What’s the point of living in a city where the concerts come to you, if Paul McCartney isn’t one of those concerts.

Having just come back from the south of France listening to atonal pulsating “dance music” at every restaurant and party, this “dancified” version of the two songs starts to sound pretty good.

Just read a nasty article on Daily Fail about Paul and the state of his voice. One of the comments said that he should stop before he gets booed off the stage. Like that’s ever going to happen! Fans know what they’re in for; they don’t go to his concerts expecting him to sound like he did in the 60s! They go there to see Paul (and if they’re really lucky, to see him wiggle his ass ;)), and enjoy him performing Beatle songs and other numbers from his repertoire.
If I’d get an opportunity to see a walking, talking, living, breathing Beatle, I’d grab it with both my hands.

I would pay to see and listen to him recite the lyrics…even if he had to use a Stephen Hawking-like computer program.

I’ll concur, but ONLY is the speech computer has a Scouse accent. I still hate that Stephen Hawking has an American speech computer. Can’t the program it with a British voice?

I’d like to clarify that I’d grab the opportunity and the Beatle with both my hands!
Even with the computerized voice, with or without the scouse

I previously posted that my wife got tickets to the Aug 13 show at Busch Stadium in St Louis for my birthday present. I was listening to the US Albums, and noticed that the US Album “Yesterday and Today” was #1 in the US on Aug 13, 1966.
Not that it means anything, just thought it was cool.

I’m taking my 7 year old daughter to see Paul in concert on Sunday!!!!!!!!!! I’ve been stalking the tour merchandise webpages to see what I might buy. If you’ve seen him on this tour already, can you tell me if it’s all the same stuff?

The concert on Sunday was one of our best family experiences ever.
My daughter has always been a Beatles/McCartney fan, so it was no surprise that she had such a great time. (“We Can Work It Out ” is one of her faves. She was SO ecstatic as soon as he started to play it.)
My 22 year old son, however, rolls his eyes whenever he hears me play a Beatles or McCartney song.
That said, even during Ob La Di and Hey Jude , 2 of his least favorite songs, he had his arm around my wife and was singing as loudly as everyone else.
He pronounced it a “great concert” and in the car on the home played a bunch of Beatle songs from his phone. Who knew he had Beatle songs on his phone!!!!????
(@vedahanks Yes, the paraphernalia was the same at the concert. Welcome to the Forum!)

The sold out show in St Louis on Aug 13 was amazing. Paul sang mostly Beatle songs with a few Wings tunes and a couple from his recent releases. The crowd sang along with most all of the songs even though “Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da ” was the song Paul had everyone singing along to.
We were sitting in the stands between 1st base and right field so it was hard to make out the people on the stage, so I’m glad there were huge screens on either side of the stage that showed Paul and the rest of the band.
He played “Maybe I’m Amazed ” for Linda, “Here Today ” for John and a very nice version of “Something ” for George. He started “Something ” on a ukulele that George left him. The rest of the band kicked in at the, “You’re asking me will my love grow…” part. That was very well done.
“Live And Let Die ” was in your face with the pyrotechnics, fire, smoke and fireworks. That part was so huge, it definitely couldn’t have been done indoors. The concert lasted for almost 3 hours with no break except for a 2 minute pause before the encore.
After the last songs, “Golden Slumbers / Carry That Weight / The End “, there were more pyrotechnics and a huge confetti shower. Before he walked off the stage he said, “Goodnight and we’ll see you next time St Louis, the home of Chuck Berry.” That was a nice touch.
The only drawback IMO was the sound level. It was so loud that it was on the verge of distortion and being muddy. But that may have been that it was an open air concert and the sound bouncing off the inside of the baseball stadium. There were speaker towers at the stage, right field, left field and near home plate.
Overall, I’d give it a 10/10. Way to go Sir Paul!
