It appears sunset comes late in England. Sunset in Cali is at 8:30.
We’re just a few days past the summer solstice, the longest day of the year.

I propose a new category for the end of year awards: person most capable of accurately reciting the same 6 stories that Paul tells in every concert.
Does it change much each night he’s on? If I skip thru his last gig (ignoring Frome), are the same stories used?
Same story each night, almost verbatim too. He reminds me of when I was a tour guide, I was saying pretty much the same thing every day, every summer.

What’s sad to think of isn’t how some day people won’t be able to able to see Paul play live but that Paul won’t be in a position to be able to sing live. It’s something he’s done for almost 70 years.
Who is Paul telling these stories to? Everyone knows them by now.
He should bring Pete Best out for ‘Love Me Do ‘ one day and get him doing that mad drumming during the instrumental.

I would hate to be playing one of the other stages against this, to two or three people, as it looks like nearly everyone at Glastonbury is in front of the Pyramid Stage.

Surely you’d just say, “go see that living legend while you still can, I’ll be here again next year”.

Paul is one of the very few who goes way beyond the UK legend/national treasure status that gets thrown around very easily. After the Queen there aren’t many who are held in such massive acclaim, respect, awe and appreciation for everything that (s)he has given. He matches artists like Elton John just for the body, quality and duration of his career from the 70’s onwards but then you throw in the Beatles and it’s launched into another stratosphere.
So yes, his voice isn’t great but it doesn’t matter to many people.
I remember when George died and how the news took over for the day; the BBC showed a tribute that night (7pm?) with a good amount taken from the 1963 programme ‘The Mersey Sound’. When Paul goes it’s going to be far bigger news with so many tributes over the days.
No matter how often I hear ‘New’ I will hate that song and the really s**t joke that was calling the album by that name.

Been in an off mood today, but just caught about half of it on the radio. It was alright, a lot of the usual live songs but I didn’t care much for either guest spots. Might watch the full thing tomorrow and maybe I’ll give a better review..

So nice to see many really young kids in the crowd. Beatles love will live on for a long, long time.

Have to commend the BBC on what must have been a running edit, with a roughly half-hour delay, Paul was still on stage as it started going out.
Wasn’t as good as 2004, when I was in about the twelfth row back. But not far off, and I don’t know whether the difference might not be being in the crowd vs. watching on TV.
If Paul wanted to do one off the rooftop with John, he should have gone for something like One After 909 , which could’ve worked with his voice as now is, not bad but not what it was. And you don’t get the same reveal with something that’s a duet throughout.
He got wrong when he should have played, when he said 3 years ago, when it was 2 (though it probably feels like 3).
Other thoughts to come. Probably.
