@AppleScruffJunior

Great writing, there.

I agree with 98% of your impressions. I don’t know why he doesn’t sing Eleanor Rigby in a lower key; he could easily have one guitar tuned to a lower key.

As for Birthday , do what I do: Go around the time of your birthday. It’ll sound MUCH better!!!!

Love this NME headline

Fuh yeah! Godlike genius Paul McCartney brings fake snow, fireworks and a supersize setlist to emotional homecoming

Love this line: “With no support act – come on, who the fuh could warm-up for Britain’s greatest living songwriter?…”

This paragraph takes you from tearing up to laughing out loud.

With his friends and family in the audience, the night clearly has an emotional undertow for him. “I could spend the whole evening chatting to you,” he says after ‘All My Loving ’. “Imagine all the memories coming flooding back.” Before ‘Here Today ’ – his imaginary 1982 conversation with the late John Lennon – he comments: “You can imagine one of the great things about coming back to Liverpool is I just remember all the little things we did, particularly before The Beatles, just hanging out and going to each others’ houses and stuff.” He recalls revisiting Forthlin Road for Carpool Karaoke: “It was pretty far out. Funny thing is though, ‘cos it’s a National Trust thing, the woman who was showing us round – like the curator or something – she asked us to pay,” he laughs. “I said: ‘this is my bloody house!’ ‘Come on – cough up.’ And we did!.”

It is a really good article.

One more bit

One die-hard brandishes [a sign] with the number ‘119’ – how many McCartney gigs he’s been to. “You must be loaded,” boggles his idol.

a-hard-days-night-ringo-8 WOW.

I did spy one error in the article though– Paul was described as “Britain’s greatest living songwriter.”

Britain’s greatest living songwriter?

Really?

He is the world’s greatest living songwriter.

Yes, great article! Thanks for posting it, @Ahhh Girl.

Here’s another error: “while the 2007 ukulele-led ‘Dance Tonight’ is accompanied by a drummer indulging in some novelty choreography”

Surely Paul would be playing mandolin not ukulele on ‘Dance Tonight’?

And in the end

The love you take is equal to the love you make

^ He made a really cute “manDOlin” sound during the Vienna concert before Dance Tonight, I wish I had recorded it.

Some guy called Ringo Starr , and immortal legend Ronnie Wood played Get Back in London last night, I bet Liverpool are livid that Ringo wasn’t at their concert BUT he might have been chased out of Liverpool for what he said in 2008….

Also, I’m SO jealous of the kids who got to sing Wonderful Christmastime with him, that’d be something to tell your grandkids in 60 years’ time.

During an interview before his Scotland Freshen Up show, Paul said,

… it was the show in Alloa which ignited his lifelong love of Scotland.

Macca said: “We’d never really travelled anywhere. We’d pretty much always been in Liverpool, maybe only ever taking a little train trip to Southport, half an hour away.

“So coming up to Scotland was like travelling to a foreign country.

“It was very primitive. We were playing little village halls back then. But it was OK because we were primitive – we didn’t have any equipment apart from guitars and a couple of amps.

“The audiences didn’t know who we were, nobody did. We were just Johnny Gentle’s backing band. They didn’t even know who he was.

“But it was good fun meeting the fans, and as we’d never done it before, we were thrilled that anyone wanted to treat us like we were stars.”

“I remember some Scottish girl saying: ‘What’s your name?’ And I said Paul… Paul Ramon,” he recalled.

“She replied: ‘Ooh, that sounds very good’. It was exciting to change your name and made us look like great London showbiz guys.”

I was listening to a bootleg of his Paris concert. I love whenever he plays Michelle you always have the nerds in the audience yelling at him to play ‘Où est le soleil?”. Sometimes he plays a few chords of it but he always promises “next time”. Come on Macca give the people what they want with your stupid French song.

How dare you it’s the best song McCartney has ever wrote. It’s the ultimate representative of 1980’s Macca.
