From the article on Dave Grohl’s interview at LA’s KROQ on recording with Paul:

Speaking to KROQ, Grohl called the Beatles legend “just the sweetest, nicest, most awesome person.”

McCartney and Grohl had previously recorded some performances for Grohl’s documentary on the iconic Sound City studios, in California.

Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours and Nirvana’s Nevermind are among the now legendary albums recorded at the studio.

Grohl later asked the former Beatle if he wanted to jam again.

“We walked in; we jammed the song. It just came out of nowhere,” said Grohl. “The best songs happen that way.”

“We recorded it live and put a vocal over it and that was it. It was three hours and it was perfect.”

Eight months after they recorded the track Grohl asked McCartney if he’d perform the track at the Sandy benefit.

“You have to undertsand, one of the great things about playing with Paul McCartney or playing with Neil Young is that that generation of musicians, they cherish and respect and value the practice of just going into a room and coming up with something and jamming and making it a song,” Grohl explained.

“There’s not like seven songwriters and seven producers and digital technology or whatever. It’s like peopel getting in a room.”

I was listening to the radio while Dave Grohl was on, and one of the DJ’s asked Dave (paraphrasing), “So, sometimes your phone rings, you answer it, and it’s Paul McCartney ?” “Is that weird?” Dave joked. Didn’t miss a beat, lol.

I didn’t care for the song – but I agree with bikelock28 that it was great to see McCartney let one rip.

Offsets “Kisses On The Bottom ” and the image that he’s an old fogie.

Dates for screenings of the Sound City documentary are listed here. Most cities are one night only, Jan. 31.

Someone posted an excerpt from the documentary with Paul:

I was getting chills watching this. The more I hear the song, the more I love it.

Between things like this and all the 50th anniversaries that we’re approaching, it feels like an exciting time to be a Beatle fan.

Hello? Thread? Are you still alive??

OK, I’m *checks date of last post* a year and 20 days late on this, but I actually just bought it this weekend (I’ve got a lot of stuff I’m buying, I just hit this on my list) and I love it. Paul screams great, and it rocks. Grohl’s drums and Novoselic’s bass are great. The guitars are pretty good too. One thing that struck me was how much it sounded like a Nirvana song. Like, if you stick Cobain in here singing, it totally fits with the In Utero stuff. Great sound. Reminds me of stuff like Serve The Servants and Scentless Apprentice.

I saw the film it was in, Sound City, not so long ago. It’s got footage from the recording session, and interviews where the former Nirvana members speak about how mindblowing it is to be in a studio with McCartney. It’s interesting to see how they interact while recording it. Great song too – I wish they’d do an album.

Since it’s the 30th anniversary of Nevermind today, I thought I’d write a feature on Cut Me Some Slack. I do love Nirvana, and this track’s grown on me a lot.

One of my favourite songs Paul has done outside of the Beatles. I’m gonna be bold and say that it is Helter Skelter part 2.

I don’t really like nirvana and when i did it was one of the worst periods of my life, but Cut Me Some Slack is great (because Paul)
