Has anyone here done a comparison of the 2014 QRP vinyl edition of Love vs the original 2007 pressing? I have a/b’d the new editions of the Red and Blue vs 1973 pressings and am happy with the results but am curious if the new Love issue is going to offer enough of a sonic difference to warrant an upgrade. The completist in me already has it on the shelf but don’t have an opened copy of the original to compare with

So you have an unopened copy? Open it. Play it. That’s what it was meant for.

thanks for the reply, what I am trying to determine is “which” one is the one to open, and if it makes any difference at all. I don’t need both…

@fishcane I would suggest that there won’t be much – if any – difference in the sound quality between the two, but that an unopened early pressing is always going to be worth more than an unopened later pressing.

I’d keep the original. As far as I know it hasn’t been remastered, and unless there were faults in the original pressing (I couldn’t hear any on mine) it’s likely to just be a straight reissue. I don’t know though – they did make edits to Live At The BBC vol 1 recently. Are there any differences in the artwork, labels etc?

Im inclined to follow this train of thought, keeping the original sealed and opening the new issue. I haven’t opened the original to this point as this selection, being avail in 5.1, is the one I reach for when playing something in that format.
