I thought the soundbites in the original show were one of the highlights. And I disagree with removing I Am The Walrus . But I will probably see it again before I judge.

Interesting that they didnt have the rights to ‘Twist And Shout ‘ back in 2006.

I wonder if that isn’t something to do with the publishing rights, as you need the permission of the song publisher to make any significant changes to a song, and it’s likely other bits will be flown from other Beatles recordings as happened with most Love versions. I note that it’s now published by Sony/ATV Music, which would put it with the same publisher as owns the rest of The Beatles publishing.

And does this mean there could be a revised Love release on the way?

So the track was allowed to have crappy brass thrown over it in ‘Ferris Bueller’s Day Out’ but the actual band who recorded it cant remix the song for ‘Love’?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?…..gd46QiHz4I

Wouldn’t surprise me if we got a ‘Love+’ or something that brought all of the material up to date (remastered), threw in the two bonus tracks that appeared on ‘iTunes’ back whenever ‘Love’ appeared there (2009?), whatever else they remixed, and maybe even replaced the ‘Back In The USSR ‘ and ‘Revolution ‘ cd edits with the complete DVD ones. A safe release (Apple love re-releases) which will tempt folk to buy it again due to the new material (ok the iTunes wouldnt be totally new but this would be their debut on cd and so seen as being in better quality).

Folk will get pissed if a new version of ‘Love’ came out that replaced the old, taking away material – not that Apple haven’t already done that with the rejigged ‘Live At The BBC ‘ (not volume 2); tho admittedly that was a speech track.

Review of the revamped show:

Seventy percent of the show is different — and marvelous and magnificent. The remaining 30 percent will be updated and integrated between now and when Sir Paul McCartney , Ringo Starr , Yoko Ono and Olivia Harrison arrive in July for the 10th anniversary.

expert-textpert, the celebration is on the 14th July.

News from Examiner

The BeatlesLOVE” show by Cirque du Soleil at the Mirage Hotel in Las Vegas announced March 24 it will host a boutique event with an art trunk show beginning Friday, March 25 and running through March 27. The show will take place in The Beatles Shop from 10 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. Friday through Sunday. The event will feature framed artwork on display with the officially licensed artwork of The Beatles by Jon Blosdale, owner of DenniLu Company. Blosdale will be available for meet and greets starting at 3 p.m., including before the 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. show performances.

But that’s not the only event happening in conjunction with the show. Columnist Robin Leach in the Las Vegas Sun wrote Wednesday that the upcoming 10th anniversary of the show in July will be attended by Ringo Starr, Paul McCartney, Yoko Ono and Olivia Harrison. The celebration will take place July 14.

Airplane tickets are too high for that time of year, and we are saving money for another trip to Graceland, so it looks like we are postponing Love (but we will definitely see it again).

As others have stated, there isn’t a bad seat in the house.  Being a broadcast engineer, I was interested in how the sound was reproduced.  Since there are surround mixes of all the songs/mash-ups, I had wondered how they were going to reproduce that in a large theater.  Well, they did it.  From any seat in the house, there is a remarkable surround image, augmented by two speakers in the back of every seat, just behind the person’s ears.  The surround mix that really slaps you in the face is the “dream sequence” from A Day In The Life , right after “somebody spoke and I went into a dream.”

If you have a surround system at home, go for the DVD-Audio disc (which most DVD players can play) of the soundtrack.  What Giles Martin did with the tracks really deserves a larger audience.

Reading this thread makes me remember that I’m lucky because I live in Vegas, and can easily go see the Love show.  I have only seen it once though.

Hi all – looking for some help from anyone who has seen the show.

My sister-in-law is taking my brother to Vegas with her in March when she has to attend a business conference. She wants to surprise my brother with tix to this show. Are there any recommendations in regard to seating? Is it best to sit nearer the front/middle/back? Does it matter for a show like this?

Any advice would be appreciated. mal-evans

I’ve been seated mid theater and back of theater. Honestly, I liked sitting further back. I felt like I caught a lot more things that way. It was like seeing the show completely fresh!

Yes.  Sit as far back as possible. We were on the top row and I don’t regret it.  Unless they have changed things up, there is a part of the show that you can’t even see if you sit up close.

Well this last time I sat in the second row, which actually was pretty fun. You got to be up close to the cast members, but it wasn’t too close to obscure your veiw. During the part with the sheet that they drape over the bottom section pf the audience, you can’t see much, but you get to push the sheet up. Then again there isn’t much to see on top of the sheet. Then the section of the show with the giant beach ball things, you do get to bounce the balls aroumd. I got to bounce the ball like 5 times.

So in conclusion, the show felt a lot more personal in the 2nd row and I enjoyed it more than I enjoyed the higher up seats last time.

We just saw the reworked Love. They changed quite a bit. I can’t decide which version I like better.

I seem to recall reading that they deleted Come Together and I was happy to find that wasn’t the case.

…Oh right it was I Am The Walrus –and it was removed. I guess I didn’t miss it.

The egg man was running around through the whole thing.

I think maybe the original version had a stronger sense of narrative. The new version is more psychedelic.
