I think it has to be 'least favourite' because 'worst' is subjective.  I like Let It Be .  You might as well say coffee is better than tea. (it is of course 😉 )  It could do with another rockier song on it so I like the idea of adding Don't Let Me Down . george-martin

It might have been a better idea to have not listed 'Dig It ' and 'Maggie Mae ' and kept them as hidden link tracks and add 'Don't Let Me Down '. Maybe it would have made a difference if folk didn't take those first two as real bona fide Beatles songs as they are the ones that are commonly stated as being one of the reasons the album is said not that good.

Then again i'm sure that some people deride 'Let It Be ' simply because of its history.

Personally i'm of the opinion its a fine album which stands up to anything in the Beatles catalogue. Replace 'Across The Universe ' with the more stripped back [unreleased] Glyn Johns mix and 'TLAWR' with the bare 'Anthology' version and it would be right amongst my favourites.

I like Let It Be , after Abbey Road and Rubber Soul it's probably my most-listened to Beatles' album. The only songs that I don't like are the aforementioned Maggie May and Dig It and I don't mind 'The Long And Winding Road ' and I also wish they'd put on 'Don't Let Me Down '

I'd say my least-favourite Beatles' album (besides Yellow Submarine ) would probably be Beatles For Sale and I still really like that album!

Let It Be has to be one of my favorite Beatles albums. (It's also my dad's favorite.) I find enjoyment in every song, even the slightly schmaltzy "Long and Winding Road" and the overplayed title track. Even though the Beatles were going through tough times, they still created a wonderful album.

I honestly really like Let It Be . I feel it's a beautiful album, though there are some tracks I don't like. I was never a fan of Dig It , or Maggie Mae . The Long And Winding Road is pretty good, but I don't listen to it very much. My favorites off it would have to be Across The Universe , One After 909 , Get Back , and of course, Let It Be . It may not be my favorite Beatles album, but I still love the songs on it

The White Album , for me. Never liked it, as others have said, it's just one guy with backing musicians. I think there's about six tracks on it that I can listen to.

ha ha - lucky they released enough albums in such a short space of time to make us all (mostly) happy!

Let It Be worst album released? Not for me. That would go (hands down) to Yellow Submarine . I only listen to 2 songs on that album (All You Need Is Love and Hey Bulldog ,which I really like). I'm also not a massive fan of Help ! but Yellow Submarine is the worst in my opinion

Let It Be is a really solid classic rock album. The songwriting is fantastic, the only things that make it worse are a) its context and negative connotations of that and b) the awkward mix of overproduction and 'back to basics' production.

I think part of the downside of the album is that you can hear that the band isn't having much fun making it.

That's a pretty great take on it. I think the material is mostly first-rate  (I even appreciate LAWR now!) but the overall presentation is less than the sum of the parts. And the inclusion of I Me Mine and Universe (fine tho they are) erodes the purity of the concept as much as Spector's unfortunate postproduction ideas. I wish they could've worked more on the Twickenham version of IMM (with the cool flamenco guitar bit!) and left Universe to be released in some other context.

As for YS, it almost surely provides less Beatle-value per square inch of vinyl than LIB , or any other vinyl artifact. But if you take the position that it isn't a Beatles album any more than it's a George Martin album with a few Fabs songs thrown in, as I do, you can sidestep the issue neatly.

I remember George saying 'Blimey, he's always talking about “Yesterday”, you'd think he was Beethoven or somebody' - Paul McCartney

I don't know about that. Perhaps that's true on TLAWR but there's plenty of fun in Get Back , I've Got A Feeling and the snippets of dialogue throughout the album. The songs themselves are some of the strongest the band ever wrote.

Looking at the path the 'Get Back ' albums took before it was released as 'Let It Be , I think there is a very strong argument that Spector chose the best performances of the songs (and also very wisely cut 'Dig It ' to 50 seconds) whereas Johns went too far towards the more relaxed takes (the rooftop cuts of 'I've Got A Feeling ' and 'Dig A Pony ' Spector selected are so vastly superior to those Johns opted for). Apple's botch job in 2003 ('Let It Be Naked') only showed, due to all the edits and manipulations they felt had to be used to create the "back to basics... as nature intended" original, that it still felt it was too raw for the consumer.

I still personally feel that overall Spector created a fine album that is more often dragged down by all that surrounds the album than what is on it. Lessen the overdubs on 'TLAWR' and 'ATU' and, for me at least, it would be one of the best Beatles albums.

I always feel bad calling out 'Yellow Submarine ' due to there only being a handful of Beatles songs on it, however only 'Hey Bulldog ' is truly worth seeking out of all six of the Beatles songs.

'MMT' would certainly be in my worst three; 'MMT',  'YMSK', 'F', 'HG' & 'PL' are all pretty forgettable, 'AYNIL' and 'TFOTH' are mediocre, and 'BJY' is only saved from perpetual boredom by Ringo. However, it always bugs me to measure it in the same worth as the other 12 as it was never created in the same way as the other 12 or intended to be viewed as such. In fact, there is far more in judging side 1 of 'MMT' to the 'Long Tall Sally ' E.P. (the only E.P.'s to contain all original material upon first release) and the latter wins every time.

While I think Let It Be is a horrible way to end the best rock band of all time it's not their worst even if we ignore the split album Yellow Submarine , it's got some great songs on it and it has that back to basics sound they were trying to achieve. The funny part about this is that the best part about this album IMO are the parts not recorded during the Get Back sessions, I Me Mine being my favorite track followed by Across The Universe and Let It Be .

If you're reading this, you are looking for something to do.

My thoughts on each song

Two Of Us - Lovely, bittersweet acoustic ballad.

Dig A Pony - Fun rocker with brilliant guitar if nonsensical lyrics.

Across The Universe - Somewhat annoying production but stunning lyrics.

I Me Mine - A classic, reminding me of Good Vibrations in its multi part structure.

Dig It / Maggie Mae - Both nice enough, just pointless.

Let It Be - An overplayed classic with an amazing solo, very influential.

I've Got A Feeling - Great rocker, love that sudden rising guitar line.

One After 909 - Fun, but one of the weaker tracks for sure.

The Long And Winding Road - Somewhat bad production and boring, but still a pretty song.

For You Blue - Love the guitar intro, the rest of the song is kind of irritating. Still nice though.

Get Back - A truly classic rocker with some great lead from John.

Overall it holds up as an album and has a lot of classic songs, enough to make me consider it a classic album.

It's a good solid album - far better than what Glyn Johns tried to offer up; if his efforts had been the finished product it would have been a truly dire album. I think the one thing that doesn't work in Let It Be 's favour is the overal sound, it always sounds a bit woolly to me which may be due to the 'portable' equipment they had to borrow off EMI. Compare it to Abbey Road and you'll understand what I mean. I can understand why ...Naked was released which did give a bit more clarity to the tunes.

oh, and it has a great front cover!
