Rest in piece John. All your contributions to this world are dearly treasured, and you’ll never be forgotten.

You just have to look at London and Chicago to see that stricter gun laws do not murders prevent.
They simply do. They do not fully prevent all deaths, but they definitely prevent some, which is worth it imo.

Gun deaths were already on a downward trend before the gun laws were put in place, and the trend just continued.

Or, it could be argued, gun deaths had stabilised at around 500 a year, give or take, and within two years of Australia’s gun laws coming in, they had reduced that number to under 400 deaths, and within another four years had reduced gun deaths to under three hundred a year, and that over five hundred dead from gun violence in a year hasn’t been seen since the laws were introduced.

Not a fan, love him anyway, but whatever.*born four years too early to technically be a boomer, so close and yet so far close enough, anyway, boomerism is a state of mind.
The term boomer is hard to set in stone as there are just as many boomers like Paul McCartney who are progressive and open minded as there are boomers like Ted Nugent who are traditional and close minded.

Australia is an island that doesn’t have a bunch of gun obsessed Republicans who will try to shoot anyone who tries to take their firearms so i don’t think it’s a fair comparison.
As for your later point, i 100% agree that’s a problem and i think it’s crazy how people with a history of mental illness and or violent behavior can legally purchase a gun here in the US. However, that point is vague, as the guy who fatally shot an armed man who broke into his house is now on the same plane as someone like John’s killer.
But at the end of the day, i think we can all agree that we don’t have enough gun control here in America and it’s a shame that John’s death didn’t encourage any change.

But they are only put on the same plane because the law doesn’t say it might not be a good idea for someone with a history of mental illness and/or violent behaviour should not have access to firearms.

I don’t necessarily agree… it’s complicated
also ‘OK boomer’ is a meme that basically means ‘you’re old and out of touch shut up lol’. I wasn’t being wholly serious (the meme is facetious, after all) but I do think Paul is somewhat out of touch, although it’s not really a major fault as he is an old hippy musician whose heart is in the right place who has operated purely on emotion in his whole life’s work, as is the job of an artist, and so it’s hardly to discredit him that he isn’t terribly politically savvy and just goes with convenient, popular platitudes that make him feel better about the tragedy. Most artists aren’t cut out to be politically savvy activists, which is why I generally disapprove of artists getting political.
Also, categorizing Americans who support the 2nd amendment as ‘gun-obsessed Republicans who will try to shoot anyone who tries to take their firearms’ isn’t fair at all*, although you’re right that Australia and the US are totally different countries and not really comparable.
*I’m not even a gun-obsessed Republican but I’d probably try to shoot you if you tried to take any of my stuff, firearms or otherwise…

In about 16 months time, John will have been gone as long as he was around.
Yet his brilliance will be a legacy long beyond that.

As I believe Ringo once said, the spirit of John still lingers!
I can never really process the fact that John is dead and “gone” and no longer of this world just because of how much of himself he has put in his music and legacy. But still, what I wouldn’t give to see him actually alive in person just once. I give all my blessings to this absolute legend who was taken far, far too soon.

I spent December 8th tearful, depressed and weary. Guess I just haven’t got over it, and I don’t know if I ever will. Still, I love to cherish the memories of John as a genius artist and a lovable human. Among people I know he was the most passionate about life, and though I feel extremely grieved that his life was taken untimely, I will share his spirit and remember his time in this world.

Sean posted this yesterday…
Today my beautiful cousin Akiko performed a Japanese Tea Ceremony for my mother, my uncle, my sister, and my other cousins, in honor of my father. Behind her was a custom scroll she had made out of an old drawing my father had given her when we were kids. The tea bowl with which she served my mother she had designed and decorated for this day with exactly 9 peace signs. When the matcha was finished there was another surprise revealed to be written at the bottom of the bowl: ‘i ii iii’ something @yokoonoofficial fans will recognize as signifying the words ‘i love you’ from her Onochord piece. The level of thoughtfulness and consideration, the meticulousness and beauty were truly breathtaking. What had begun as a difficult day for our family has left me feeling incredibly grateful. Thank you Akiko, and thank you everyone for your kind words.
