Categorizing Americans who support the 2nd amendment as ‘gun-obsessed Republicans who will try to shoot anyone who tries to take their firearms’ isn’t fair at all.
I probably should’ve been more specific in my original post. Not all Americans who support the 2nd amendment are gun obsessed Republicans and many would be more than willing to comply with law enforcement and hand over their guns if necessary and many are not Republican. However, there are still plenty of people who perfectly fit my description.

Sean posted this yesterday…Today my beautiful cousin Akiko performed a Japanese Tea Ceremony for my mother, my uncle, my sister, and my other cousins, in honor of my father. Behind her was a custom scroll she had made out of an old drawing my father had given her when we were kids. The tea bowl with which she served my mother she had designed and decorated for this day with exactly 9 peace signs. When the matcha was finished there was another surprise revealed to be written at the bottom of the bowl: ‘i ii iii’ something @yokoonoofficial fans will recognize as signifying the words ‘i love you’ from her Onochord piece. The level of thoughtfulness and consideration, the meticulousness and beauty were truly breathtaking. What had begun as a difficult day for our family has left me feeling incredibly grateful. Thank you Akiko, and thank you everyone for your kind words.
That’s really nice, i’m glad it helped his family.

Oh, come on, guys, do we really have to have the whole gun control debate in this thread? Can’t we take that elsewhere and remember John’s life instead of the means of his death?
also DO Paul isn’t actually a boomer, he was off by a few years… not that it matters

Considering he was killed on the 8th December, the 8th December is a date I ignore. It’s also the date my father was officially diagnosed with lung cancer which is also really shitty so not a date I want to give much prominence.

In about 16 months time, John will have been gone as long as he was around.Yet his brilliance will be a legacy long beyond that.
Sad to think about, him being gone longer than he was alive. I choose to view it another way: forever 40. Time means nothing anymore. He’s forever preserved as the man we love, his work always with us.

For my podcast Here Now the News, I interviewed Alan Weiss, who was a local news producer and hospitalized just steps away from Lennon. He gathered the information that would ultimately get into Howard Cosell’s hands. It’s available on Anchor.fm, iHeart, Apple and other platforms. Premium content from the interview is also on my Patreon. Thanks!

40 years ago, to the minute, John and Yoko had just begun what was to become their last session at the studio, mixing Walking on Thin Ice. A whisker under 6 hours from now, he was pronounced dead on arrival. You don’t know what you’ve got, until you lose it…
Thank you John, thank you for everything. You should have been here now.

An interesting article from the BBC about how John has been portrayed in popular culture since his death.

Thanks to all who contributed here recently, especially Ron Nasty with the tweets. The photo Mark Lewisohn posted of young John was new to me, and very affecting. Starting out, before he would be starting over years later.

In Australia on December 8th 1980, I was practicing with my band when a friend came into the room and told us one of The Beatles had been shot, but he didn’t know which one or how bad. I jumped on my bike and pedalled madly all the way home, guitar under one arm so that I could find out what happened on our radio.
So sad. I listened to my radio in bed all night, hoping that it was simply not true and John was still alive.
I still feel that sadness 40 years later.
