See, now we've got The Beatles' remasters, and Lennon's back catalogue is coming out, I'm wishing they'd do the same for George's stuff. Then when Paul and Ringo stop recording we could have career-spanning collections of all their releases and rarities. It'd be great if they could all look similar – just imagine how cool they'd look all together.

I think I saw a remaster or something of his “Let it Roll” album. Something like that.a-hard-days-night-george-5

Apparently Yoko's remastering them HERSELF. I'm not sure how that will turn out, if it's true.

The team was headed by Allan Rouse, who did the same for The Beatles' remasters, and also Lennon's previous reissues. Yoko was involved but I doubt she did much hands-on stuff.

Ah, okay then. Nothing against her personally, obviously, but I didn't think she had very much experience with that sort of thing.

I was thinking what you can do for the site … maybe having in the banner on the top some John's pics with the dates 9 October – 8 December 2010 or something like that, 2 or 3 …. it would be something simple and people can notice it. After December 8th you can remove those images and have only Beatle ones.

Don't worry, all in hand. I've got plans for the anniversary.

BTW, any graphic designers reading, who might want to help me out with a banner? I've got an idea but my Photoshop skills aren't all that hot (as evidenced by the pretty basic design of this site!)

I wasn't insulting her, I was just saying that it would be better in the hands of professionals (which it is)

This is a model of the 18-foot statue that's going to be unveiled in Liverpool:

Image Enlarger

I think it's horrible. It's titled Peace And Harmony, but they might have called it Crass And Vulgarity instead. Why would anyone think this would be a fitting tribute to the life and music of John Lennon ?

The

Beatles Story are extremely excited to be adding another addition to the award winning visitor attraction.  In October an 18ft monument dedicated to the music legend John Lennon , will be erected in Liverpool.

The monument entitled 'Peace and Harmony' will be unveiled by Julian Lennon in a prestigious ceremony.  The City anticipates that the monument will emulate New York's Strawberry Fields memorial by attracting thousands of fans wishing to pay their respects to the life and spirit of John Lennon , as well as becoming an iconic symbol of Britain.

The monument has been created by American teen art prodigy Lauren Voiers and is being gifted to the Beatles Story and the City of Liverpool by California-based organisation Global Peace Initiative.

This is the second in a series of monuments commissioned by Global Peace Initiative. Their aim is to place a peace monument in each of the world's seven continents and spread artistic symbols of peace across the globe. The first monument was presented to the President of Singapore on behalf of the people of Asia in 2005.

EDIT: here's a video clip showing another model. It looks slightly better in muted colours, but I still wouldn't describe it as a thing of beauty. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/ent…..323930.stm (hope people can see BBC clips outside the UK)

Here's the tracklisting for the 'rarities' disc in the new Lennon box. Three unreleased songs. Pah.

http://www.hmv.co.jp/en/news/a…..008050069/

What really annoyed me, though, was this further down the page: “”John Lennon BOX” does not include the “Stripped Down” [Double Fantasy ]”

I really hope this is a mistake. The box is supposed to contain 11 discs – that's the eight albums (John Lennon /Plastic Ono Band, Imagine , Some Time In New York City , Mind Games , Walls And Bridges , Rock 'N' Roll, Double Fantasy , Milk And Honey ), rarities, and a disc of non-album songs (Give Peace A Chance , Cold Turkey etc). That's 10. I'm certainly not going to buy the box then pay extra for Double Fantasy Stripped Down – I'll download it instead.
