Was John alive when Mercury sung Life is real ( Song for Lennon ) ?
They were friends?
I don't think they ever met each other. Life is Real was written the year after John died.
GEORGE: In fact, The Detroit Sound. JOHN: In fact, yes. GEORGE: In fact, yeah. Tamla-Motown artists are our favorites. The Miracles. JOHN: We like Marvin Gaye. GEORGE: The Impressions PAUL & GEORGE: Mary Wells. GEORGE: The Exciters. RINGO: Chuck Jackson. JOHN: To name but eighty.

John didn't meet the members of Queen although all of Queen cite The Beatles as an influence.
As mentioned above, Paul is still friends with Roger and Brian although they haven't officially played together at any point thus far.

Forgive my ignorance.

'Cause you know sometimes words have two meanings.
...They've forgotten all about God
He's the only reason we exist...

"Living in every pore" would suggest to me that Freddie was saying that John inspired millions of people and was so deeply loved that his influence, not just his music but how he inspired others in so many ways, will continue to be felt and lived out and on in them.
Its not a song i have heard.

That's exactly what Freddie was trying to get across in the song.
