I realize it is probably out of print, but I love Shaved Fish. It was John’s only compilation album until his death. Sure, it omits some songs like Jealous Guy and Love, but I still adore it. What do others think?

I’ve seen it in a lot of record stores, but probably wouldn’t buy it. I listen to John by album. Something about his solo career contains a different mood and time for each album.

I hated how they edited the ‘One to One’ performance of ‘Give Peace A Chance ‘ into ‘Happy Xmas’ and opened with a brief excerpt of the regular ‘Give Peace A Chance ‘. Just give us the full song and let us enjoy it.
I grew up with the ‘John Lennon Collection’ compilation anyway so I had everything except ‘WITNOTW’, which I never cared for so wasn’t bothered. ‘Collection’ is still my favourite Lennon compilation; ‘Legend’ omitted ‘I’m Losing You ‘ (which I wanted to call ‘I’m A Loser ‘ when typing this) which really pissed me off.

I grew up with this one, not having heard either versions of ‘Give Peace A Chance ‘ before, so it naturally found its way into the heart… I can look back now and say, yeah… “Just give us the full song and let us enjoy it” but, I must say, the two excerpts and “reprise” formula really worked for me back then… It gave this collection a ‘Beatley’ flavour (“Shaved”, to be precise)…
Of note… Here in Canada, the album jacket had the title removed from the ‘Woman Is The N—r Of The World’ glyph, on the front… I always considered my copy to be defective because something was missing from the “genuine” Apple release…:-)

I Like it. It was the first solo Beatle album i bought. In fact i was looking for the ‘Imagine ‘ album but there was no copy at the shop so i ended up buying this one (just because it has the Imagine track) and i really enjoyed every track. Mother , Instant Karma , Cold Turkey , Happy Xmas, Nº 9 dream…

Offline I had the cassette and remember loving it. I might still have it tucked away in a dusty box somewhere in the basement. But alas, no cassette player…unless it’s in the same box.

Offline Shaved Fish is the very first CD I bought in my life. It was the early spring of 1991, and I was 14 years old. I still have it. I also have the album on vinyl. I was disappointed about the very short version of Give Peace A Chance , but I enjoyed the rest of it. The album, both vinyl, cassette and CD is available on Ebay.
