I needed a change of music in the car so I put a few solo albums onto a USB stick. The first album was Mind Games which I've not listened to for ages. Oh how I enjoyed listening to it! I bought the album back in the seventies and what I loved about it then – and was reminded about now – is the amount of guitar solos on there which is most unilke other Lennon solo albums. David Spinozza was responsible for those and I just loved hearing it all.
There are some superb vocal performances by John (you should check that our Alissa – it'll be “goose bumps” time for you for sure ).
If some of you younger folk haven't heard this album do try and seek it out. The songs are very catchy.

Your car has usb ports?
I'll have to check it out. I've been going through his later works kind of piece meal and what's surprised me is how many of the songs I already know.
My Radio / CD player has both an iPod port and a USB port. Quite common – nothing flash or special.

Being my usually rebel-self, I just download the songs off the computer, muhaha!
Alas, I've only found 4 tracks off Mind Games – I'll have to buy the remaining tunes off iTunes.
I do have I Know (I Know), Bring on the Lucie (Freeda Peeple), Aisumasen and Mind Games . From what I've heard, it's a great, album, so i'll get to the rest of the songs as soon as I can!

I know this very sad, but I have only heard 2 John Lennon solo songs: Imagine and Instant Karma . I guess I need to go out and buy a few John albums, eh?

Blasphemy!
I highly recommend Walls And Bridges or Imagine – those are my favourite albums of his.

You aren't alone, hee…
I listen to his stuff on Pandora occasionally but the only solo careers I've actually seeked out are Ringo's and George's.

Aisumasen – now there is one CRACKIN' guitar solo on the end of that. The time I spent as a 'younger' lad playing air guitar to that
Mind Games is the single off the album so I'm sure people have heard that before. And don't you just love the start to Bring On The Lucie? “All right boys, this is it, over the hill”
BTW – Out The Blue is the track you want for the goose-bump vocals Alissa.

Hey, if I keep this up I'll either get you arrested for illegal downloads or make you bankrupt with excessive iTunes purchases
Gift cards are great things, my friend!
My mom stocked up on iTunes cards and I buy them off her for cheap every so often.
Me and my own mother have a business partnership, a real L/McC

Funny, I'm listening to John's solo stuff all day today. Just wanted a quick “refresher” because it's been a while, so I'm doing Imagine , Mind Games , Walls & Bridges, Plastic Ono Band, and Double Fantasy . (I, too, have a USB port in my car stereo, and I drive a '98, so … no excuses!)
Anyway, there is a lot of good material on all of these albums, but I think I like Double Fantasy the best. “(Just Like) Starting Over”, “Beautiful Boy”, and “Watching The Wheels ” are enough to put me over the edge.
Not a bit like Cagney.
Have you heard that there's going to be an 'unplugged' version of Double Fantasy ? Skip to the four-minute mark for more info from the producer Jack Douglas:
Presumably this is part of the John anniversary campaign. I wonder what else Yoko can conjour up. Not that I'm complaining – it's always good to hear new Lennon stuff, though I'm a little worried that this is just an unnecessary remix. Remember when Yoko coloured in John's lithographs so she could resell them as 'collaborations'? Hmm.

In reality, Mind Games was his worst album. STINYC, while not great, was better, as it has coherency and theme, not like this.
