Julian’s problem is that you don’t hear from him if he isn’t either promoting his latest album or complaining.

How are the other Beatle kids whinging, though? Mary, Stella, and Sean are public figures who seem quite happy. Zak is obviously famous in his own right, but you never hear from him. James is terrible at doing interviews so you rarely hear anything from him either, and the other kids fly completely under the radar. To me, Julian seems to be the only one doing any whinging, though I can’t recall hearing anything about/from him in years.
Mary, Stella and Dhani seem alright..you don’t hear much from Ringo’s kids, although Zak had a falling out with his father, not that we heard much. Heather has always kept out of the public eye.
I recall Sean’s whinging or anger in some of the interviews I’ve heard, and James did his when he was promoting his album. If Julian is your yardstick for Beatle children whinging, then it’s negligible.
I’ve only been into the Beatles for over a year now, so I’ve read age old articles only recently, and most of the articles I’ve read about them come across as moaning to me, so I might’ve generalised it in my statement.

Sean is a bit of a character, for sure. He seems like a generally okay bloke, though. It’s hardly surprising he’s a bit strange. I mean, neither John nor Yoko are what you would call ‘average’ people. I’ll agree James has had his moments, though it’s not strange he speaks up sometimes. He’s being criticised a lot harsher than any other Beatles kid. He receives a lot more insults anyway. That interview he did about the Lady Mucca drama and overcoming his drug abuse was rather bold, I think, though people might have seen that as whinging. He seems quite content now, doing his thing. I respect him for continuing with his music, despite the fact that it isn’t very good. It takes bollocks to keep doing what you want, so in that regard, I have to respect all Beatles offspring, including Julian.

I don’t pay attention to any of them, so I’ll just ask the group. Do they really complain a lot or are they simply answering the same tired questions about their relationships with their dads over and over to the point where it is perceived they are complaining? I can’t imagine Julian or any Beatle kid calling a press conference just so they can piss and moan.

Well, Julian did post that stuff about being snubbed by Paul on his social media. Wasn’t that a big ado about Paul and Yoko trying to erase him from history or something? So yeah, he does come out of hiding to complain sometimes. I don’t know about the others.

I recall that incident as being the only one where he came out of the woodworks to complain..but I don’t recall any other time. I could be wrong though. And quite frankly, I guess he was pretty hurt considering Paul was pretty close to him, but still, posting it on FB? Really?
I think it’s pretty much when they’re asked the questions about their dads (without whom they wouldn’t have been interviewed in the first place) that it happens.

True, he was asked about it. But when are we going to see a video of him spontaneously complaining without being asked? Does that even exist? I shared the video for the obvious lies.

I think, like the four ex-Beatles being endlessly asked about the Beatles and their ex-band mates after the split, questions about John (and the other’s kids dads) are inevitable and Julian has to accept it in the interviews and answer them better. Being the son of John Lennon is a far bigger reason why Julian is being interviewed in the first place than his solo career.

How do we know he didn’t say “start filming and ask me about my dad”?

Would many artists whose last major hit was in 1991 (25 years ago) be expecting to be appear never mind be interviewed in some of the bigger media publications and tv shows?
Julian is there because his dad was John; to therefore be peeved he was being asked about John would be either incredibly naive and/or incredibly stupid.

We can’t know one way or the other.
However, there is this interview where he’s hardly asked about his father, so he doesn’t talk about him either:

If you’ve got a few minutes, stumbled across this interesting essay:
Let Me Take You Down in a Cyn Sandwich: The Profoundly Paradoxical Mind of John Lennon
By Brian Murphy, it’s a 16 page PDF (17, but the first page is title) review of 7 books about John. I thought some fascinating observations on the myth vs. the reality, and its importance. It seemed to fit in this thread. Well worth a read I think.

Good find. I was worried that the article wouldn’t make sense without having read the mentioned essays, but it is an interesting read on its own.
Probably goes without saying I thought the Seaman-Rosen parts were the most interesting. Especially that part with Yoko tipping off the japanese authorities?!
