Hello everybody. Nobody has posted anything here since October, but I’d like to. I’ll confess that I haven’t read the whole fifteen pages of the thread, only the last few ones, but I would like to ask if anybody knows who started the rumor originally. A reporter, a biographer, who? And what evidence did he have? All I’ve read I speculation. Thanks, Oudis.
Oudis, have a look at the first two pages of this thread. I think you will get some sense of the origins of the rumor.

Well, thanks, @Ahhh Girl, I have, and what I’ve read is mostly speculation, opinions and anecdotes… But I remember vividly a conversation I had with a friend in the eighties, after John’s death; my friend told me he had read somewhere that John had "become bisexual" during the years he was supposed to be baking bread for Sean, and that it was Yoko no more no less the one who would find him male lovers. I am wondering if anyone here knows what my friend’s source was –I have forgotten, but it was either a book or a magazine/newspaper article. Someone (a reporter, a writer) started the rumor, somebody “made the accusation” publicly more than thirty years ago.

Just putting my two cents; could it be that John was misguided about his feelings and the different "experiments" were really a result of his confusion rather than his inner drive? Maybe the absence of motherly love left John with intimacy issues, for instance take the songs Run For Your Life , You Can't Do That , Jealous Guy , the lyrics portray him as someone who had intimacy/trust issues (I'm no authority on the subject, it's just my opinion). So after Julia , the only people he ever got close to were guys, Stu, and then Brian Epstein (in the sense that Eppie had feelings for John and John might have wanted to reciprocate because here was a person who loved- a strong word- John?). So while he was shunned for his tough/ teddy boy image by the world as a young man, John gravitated towards people who loved him for who he was.

Well, John told Pete Shotton that he did gay things with Epstein, so maybe that is what started it. Of course later he said he was pulling his leg. Obviously John wanted to hang out with gays and for people to think he was gay on some level, otherwise he wouldn't keep mentioning it in interviews, etc. (such as the one above where he says he started the rumor he was gay, and the one where he says he beat up Bob Wooler because he was "afraid of the fag" in himself). And to say that you like your wife because she looks like a bloke in drag is sort of odd, especially coming from a guy such as John whose favorite place to go in Germany was the clubs where all the drag queens were.

About John liking Yoko because she looked like "a man in drag", there was also a time when he was obsessed with Brigitte Bardot which led to Cynthia changing her looks completely. This was all before The Beatles which means that it could well be said, as @Expert Textpert stated, that it was his involvement with Epstein that brought it about. Also, of course John wanted to be "ahead of his time" and to be the odd one out so that could explain his association with the gay people.
EDIT: Also, it's interesting to notice how Yoko started dressing lady-ish after John's death.

I don't think you can become a sexuality since sexuality is not what you do it's what you feel.

Here’s what Paul has to say about this whole business… Can anybody tell me what book they are talking about?

Yeah, well… saying “It’s 2015” doesn’t give us any information, which is what we want (at least those of us that follow this thread). Saying that stops the discussion without reaching any conclusion; that’s all it does. Of course, John’s possible homosexual leanings don’t make him less of a person, but I guess we BeatleBiblers want to know as much as we can about his personality. Anyways, probably we’ll never know; rumors and speculation is all we’ll have.

Not necessarily because people can get aroused without wanting too like when people are going though puberty.

If John was aroused by gay things without wanting to, did he still have gay leanings? Would that be "gay struggles"?
