Everyone – let's help her out by submitting your thoughts about John's birthday – it doesn't have to be a poem or a song – just say what is in your heart.
If you miss him as much as I, the words will flow out like….well….you know.
It's funny, I think about him or listen to one his songs at least once a day, but I'm at a loss for words to describe my feelings.
Ad hoc, ad loc, and quid pro quo! So little time! So much to know!

Hmm, what can I say about John Lennon that hasn't already been said? I think there is one line that defines John Lennon to me: “Look At Me …who am I supposed to be? Who am I supposed to be?” That begs the question, who was John Lennon ? It's this question that has kept so many puzzled for so long, despite hundreds of books written, dozens of statues built and an infinite amount of words spoken.
Was he a loser? A Nowhere Man ? The walrus? Or just a jealous guy? No one has really been able to define him except for the man himself (“nobody knows but me”). What is that indefinable quality that John had that so few, if any, have possessed? Someone once said on this forum that the reason that John was so great is because of the energy he brought to everything that he did and I would have to say that that's the best description I've really ever heard of him. It's almost magical the way his voice is totally reflected by whatever emotion he's singing about.
I often look at this picture and try and figure out what the artist was trying to say about John in this picture. The glasses masking his face, and look at the colors and how deep they are. How can someone sing with the tenderness of Love and the ferocity of Well Well Well on back to back tracks? How could he have so much anger and yet so much love at the same time? Who was he?
I don't know and I don't think I'll ever be able to pinpoint exactly who he was or what he meant to society as a whole. I guess I can only define him as a human who lived, I mean really lived! Rebel, dropout, rocker, lover, hippie, dreamweaver, activist, patient, philosopher, drug addict, breadmaker, bad father, good father, comedian, musician, artist. Whatever you define him as, you're not wrong.
Now that I think about it, there's one line that sums up my feelings for John and it actually comes from a song the Beatles turned down. “How do you do what you do to me?” We wish we knew John, we wish we knew. R.I.P.
I sat on a rug, biding my time, drinking her wine

I know exactly what you mean, skye. That's why the poem I put together was just a rewrite of the Imagine lyrics. It is hard to put my feelings about him into words (other than love, of course).
Apparently, GniknuS does not share in our frustration as he put it very eloquently. Nice job, Gnik.

Living without you, John.
You said you were a dreamer,
But you weren’t the only one.
We truly love and miss you,
Through us all you will live on.
Happy Birthday , John.

Here's my contribution for your page. Thank you so much for doing this! I wish my words could convey my love better but these are all I have….
Dear John,
You were such a great teacher to me. I carry your music in my heart and your humor in my eyes. Though I may not be as brave as you were, I hold your courage in high regard, as a goal for myself to one day achieve. Blessings to you upon this day, for all you have given me and all the ways you continue to inspire me.
Happy Birthday , John!

I guess all this post-writing comes in handy.

I'm quite tired.. so I'm off to bed. Tomorrow I'll edit the website and set up the links. Anyway I'm planing to extend the invitation to December 9th.
This is what I wrote.
This morning I heard Imagine and I wanted to cry. I felt tears because it's really hard to imagine a world where peopel can live as one. And yet, I keep trying John, I keep trying.
Thanks for your music and Julian. As your dear friend Paul said.. “I love you”
