Activists to take over John and Yoko’s suite
Bed-in for breast cancer; Group calls on Ottawa to clearly label all consumer products containing carcinogens. On Thursday morning, four Montreal women will climb into the famous bed in the Queen Elizabeth Hotel from which John Lennon and Yoko Ono asked the world to “Give Peace A Chance .”The women, from the nonprofit Breast Cancer Action Montreal, will be demanding the federal government “give cancer prevention a chance” through clear labelling that alerts consumers to cancercausing ingredients in all products sold in Canada.BCAM’s executive director Rosanne Cohen said the idea of the “bed-in” is to remind people Breast Cancer Action Month should be a time for “John and Yoko-style activism” that goes beyond buying pink-ribboned products from companies that funnel some profits to breast cancer research.
Life is what happens when your busy making other plans. John Lennon
