No idea. But its active.

Was watching an episode of ‘Top of the Pops’ from 1980 on BBC4 where Abba were at number 1 with ‘Super Trouper’ so thought John’s murder would feature in the next episode. Instead after the closing credits had run the presenter came back on and spoke of the shock of John being killed and then ‘Imagine ‘ from the Lew Grade Special was shown.

One day maybe I’ll get to comprehend what happened but I seriously doubt it. After so many years I still find it very difficult to read, listen or watch anything that covers the last few months of John’s life because of what happened on the 8th December. For John to finally be so content with life and looking forward so much to the future, to me it it makes it far harder for him to then be killed – maybe to others thats wrong but sorry I couldnt give a toss.

And the 8th December is now even worse as my father was diagnosed with lung cancer on this date (not day). Suppose at least two dates weren’t ruined by two uber-shit events.

Just listened to Imagine and thought about this. The song is still very actual in these times, which it shouldn’t be.

Anyway, going to listen the F out of the Beatles now . RIP John.

If anyone is familiar with the FindADeath website (& forum), Scott Michaels has done a great story on John Lennon and his last hours before crazed gunman, Mark Chapman, shot and killed him.  🙁

It’s been said that Lennon died on the way to the hospital.  Not true.  Lennon died at the hospital.  The guy who took the photograph of Lennon in a body bag got (I believe) $10,000 from the NE (can we all say “Elvis Presley’s Last Picture”?) and the New York Post featured the image on their issues.  The reason I bring Elvis into this is because Billy Mann, Sr. was paid $50,000.00 for the photo of Elvis in his casket on the evening of August 17, 1977.

Today is a sad day, though.  🙁  Doesn’t seem like it’s been thirty-five years since Lennon was shot.  🙁

Lennon supposedly had an aversion to cremation (he was cremated and his ashes were given to Yoko) and his widow, Yoko, never notified his family in England that he had been cremated.  Supposedly, before his body went into the furnace, the serene calm look he had on his face turned to one of a very grim look, according to those who were there.  🙁

I saw this on the ‘Twitter feed’ box on the main site:

That photo will haunt me for the rest of my life.

Source? I know of no crematorium that burns open caskets, and surely the only the way to see the expression on John’s face as he entered the furnace would be if they were breaking the law and burning an open casket?

Such ridiculous crap floating around the interweb that has no basis in fact.

Well, to be fair, he didn’t say the expression changed while he was in the casket….the post said it happened sometime “before his body went into the furnace.”  Just thought I’d put that out there.

Just saw this on a FAQ about cremations:

“A viewing with an open casket may precede the cremation.”

My dad still remembers waking up on December 9, 1980, when my grandmother told him the dreadful news of Lennon’s assassination.  He has just started to get into The Beatles too.ahdn_george_05 Of course, I wasn’t born yet, but that doesn’t mean I’m not going to remember John’s life.  And so I will be listening to a bunch of his music at around 10:52 PM (the time it was when he was shot).  I just wish he was still here with us (and George too)

Check the FindADeath website.  That’s where my source comes from.  John wasn’t in a casket when he was cremated, either.  It was the same body bag that he was brought into the hospital in.

Sounds about right…he didn’t have a funeral, either.  It always kind of bothered me that he didn’t have a funeral.
