Side, side note: On one hand, I find it fascinating to read or watch something about the music specifically; studio tricks, flat strings, odd little noises/voices, etc… On the down side I sometimes find myself listening so intently, I don’t here the song. Similar to not seeing the forest for the trees and all that.
Well, @Zig, that’s the price to pay for being a musician or a melomaniac…

An unreleased nine-minute long version of the song “Don’t Worry Kyoko (Mommy’s Only Looking for Her Hand In the Snow)” has popped up on YouTube. While there were later unreleased versions recorded with Elephant’s Memory, this one claims to be from the original recording session with Lennon, Ringo Starr and Eric Clapton.
The song starts out with a countdown by Lennon, then goes into a blues riff with Yoko wailing away repeatedly over the full nine minutes. Yoko did a lengthy live version of this song on “Live Peace In Toronto ,” That performance, with a different mix, was included in the film “John Lennon and the Plastic Ono Band: Live in Toronto ’69,”which documented John and Yoko’s appearance there.

I’ve been listening to this a lot lately,it hasn’t lost it’s power for sure. I think it’s an amazing album and it still makes me feel all fuzzy inside with its honesty and humanity. I love how he presents himself as so vulnerable – he may be a superstar but he is saying i have problems too and maybe these problems are yours too. Amen to that.
“working class hero” basically rips up capitalisms main tenets for arsepaper, “mother” and “remember” rail against the injustices of his youth, “love” is a perfect moment of tenderness among all the pain. Even away from the inspired, songwriting (probably his best work since the White Album ) you have what i would say is one of the finest vocal performances from any rock musician ever.
Theres a lot of praise for mccartney’s ability on this forum and rightly so, john didn’t have paul’s multi-instrumental and production skills for sure and paul wrote the bands most memorable melodies and biggest hits but this record is enduring proof that lennon could go to levels of deep emotional beauty and raw expression that paul could not get near.
Yet i read somewhere this is the most disliked of his solo albums by beatles fans ? Do you guys like it ?

Offline The most disliked John solo album (ignoring all the experimental stuff) must surely be the political ‘Somewhere In New York City‘ which is often scorned and rarely played by fans. ‘John Lennon /Plastic Ono Band’ is frequently high on fans lists rivaling ‘Imagine ‘ as John’s best album.

Offline Does anyone know why “Power To The People ” is tagged on at the end of the CD reissue instead of the more relevant “cold turkey” ?
Got to be an error surely ? (although great to hear “do the oz” which has another full tilt john vocal)

Just gave this album a listen and wowsy. I think I’ve had enough emotion to last me the entire month. 
I had heard God before, so I knew what to expect… then, true to form, he exceeded my expectations. I nearly cried. Which is, for me, about like anyone else saying they actually cried.
Time to go listen me some happy Beatles…

Offline Spot on, ‘plastic ono band’ is one of the few examples of where music has actually physically effected me. John lays it on the line over and over here making it crystal clear for those who had followed him – happiness can only ever be found within yourself. The albums tough minimalism has actually been terribly influential down the years.
I still think it’s the finest beatles solo album. It’s been a great comfort to me.

Offline Back in May 2015 Ringo spoke to Uncut magazine about recording ‘John Lennon /Plastic Ono Band’ with John.
“It was incredible,” Starr says of the sessions. “John, Klaus [Voormann] and I. One of the finest trios I ever heard. We did it like a jam. We knew John had the songs and we’d kick it in and felt where it should go.
“We knew Klaus anyway. John and I really knew each other, so we were psychic where the atmosphere was going to go.
“It’s one of the best experiences of being on a record I have ever had. Just being in the room with John, being honest, the way he was, screaming, shouting and singing. It was an incredible moment.”

Offline I personally think that it is the most emotional album that he every produced. He gave us a glimpse into himself and the pain that he was feeling. I love the album and when I listen to it, the emotion that John displays can reflect into my own life but in different ways, which makes it a very personal album.
My favorite songs on it are “Hold On “, “Working Class Hero “, “Love”, and “Isolation .”

I relate more to Walls And Bridges .
It might have been closer if ‘Walls And Bridges ‘ had been a little less produced; for that reason I prefer the outtakes. Also the lyrics to ‘Steal And Glass’ are primary two kids levels of insults.
