Unless you have control of the webserver itself there’s little you can do, I’d put it down to a wordpress structural thing that falls in the cracks. These little protocol glitches happen all the time.

I use a tracker whitelister/blocker these days (this has nothing to do with the above bug btw), and I had blocked everything but the Amazon tracker. Unfortunately some “enterprising” ad sites are using Amazon’s tracker to overlay website links with links to their sites via javascript. It’s very clever, and doesn’t even show up in your browser history but they do leave traces behind in cookies and local storage. Has anyone else had this issue, I’m trying to figure out whether it isn’t the tracker blocker itself at fault!

I'm like Necko only I'm a bassist ukulele guitar synthesizer kazoo penguin and also everyone. Or is everyone me? Now I'm a confused bassist ukulele guitar synthesizer kazoo penguin everyone who is definitely not @Joe.  This has been true for 2016 & 2017 Sig-Badge.png but I may have to get more specific in the future.

Just piping up to say I think I’ve just experienced it. I think it’s a caching bug, and quite possibly as much chrome’s fault as Simple Press. I was all logged in and went to a thread I subscribed to and was suddenly unlogged-in for that thread alone. Reload of the thread and it’s fixed. Chrome can be damn lazy with its pre-render which doesn’t always update the markup.

I use Chrome on an IPad all the time, and I have had a number of issues that usually resolve themselves or I have learned to work around.  For instance, if you press and hold the screen (which you will typically do to edit, select or paste text), it will almost invariably crash and shut down the program.  Also, I sometimes am unable to log in to the Forum no matter what I do.  The only cure for that is to log in with Safari or IE on a computer.  I think Chrome is a little sensitive and doesn’t always play nice with others.

I say in speeches that a plausible mission of artists is to make people appreciate being alive at least a little bit. I am then asked if I know of any artists who pulled that off. I reply, 'The Beatles did'.

I tried to recreate it and couldn’t. I think it might have had something to do with Facebook and its downtime, and nothing at all to do with the site, but I’ll keep an eye out.

Is “the login bug” when you type in your password and it doesn’t log you in,, and you might have to do it 3-5 times to get it to accept?

Over the last couple weeks, I’ve experienced a lot of ‘server not responding” errors for beatlesbible.com.  I’m not having those problems with any other site, but they do happen on IE and firefox.  I run win7 with the latest stable release of the browsers.  Anyone else have this problem or did an upgrade happen a couple weeks ago maybe?

Thanks mods ;)

What happens to me is that no matter how many times I try I can’t login on the main forum page. However, when I go to view a thread I am then logged in, yet if I return to the main forum page I am logged out again. It makes it impossible to keep track of current threads.

I’m sorry. I’ve spent a morning looking into this with no obvious solution. I do know that Simple Press (the forum) doesn’t actually handle any logins, despite how it might look. All registrations are handled by WordPress (ie the site as a whole), so if the homepage is not showing you as logged in it’s probably a WP cookie or caching thing. I’ll keep digging to see what I can find.

Talking of caching, I’m trying out a new thing to try to speed things up. It doesn’t work very well with the forum so these pages should be excluded, but if you spot any weirdness do let me know. Cached non-forum pages should expire after an hour.

So why does the ‘topics with unread posts’ box often show threads where I was actually the last person to post?

Is anyone else experiencing the problem on the mobile version of the site of the drop down menu for New/Updated Topics not being complete (only showing the first few lines)?

The last couple of weeks I’ve been having problems connecting to the s.erver.  You know, “cannot connect with server beatlesbible.com”.  After a few tries it usually works, but I wonder if something might need an upgrade (here’s 2,000usd to help, I wish!).

Is the Forum wonky for anyone else today? Intermittently the Add Reply button doesn’t work (except for right now, of course) and the New/Recently Updated Topic drop down is absent.

Is that at work and still having to use IE @Zig?

Companies and people should take the time to tally up just how much money and time they waste every year due to how rubbish IE is.
