Also, I’d recommend adding the types of guitar/bass/drums/piano that they used per song, here’s a website that you can base some of that information off of http://www.beatlesebooks.com/. It’s a one man site run by a guy named Dave who grew up with The Beatles as a little kid and it’s very impressive and just like this site, you can talk to him if there’s an inaccurate piece of information and he’ll either change it or tell you why he’s right, my friend Steve used to talk to him, he’s a great guy. But if you can’t change that, the least you can do is change the instrumentation section in I’m Looking Through You to say that Paul played lead guitar.

Maybe you should try posting more.

@Joe I had a thought: if you included lyrics in your articles about the songs, it might possibly increase traffic to the site. I notice that you have lyrics for some unused tracks/outtakes and whatnot, but not for the canon (as far as I can tell).

Just throwing it out there. apple01

There is a reason, @Beatlebug – copyright.

If you look at the lyrics @Joe feels able to include, they are all cover versions dating (in their writing) to 1962-ish or earlier.

Were Joe to publish the lyrics of their original songs, beyond quoting in part for educational purposes, he would risk the copyright holders coming down on him with the full force of the law, and put the continued existence of the site at risk.

I know Joe would do it at a shot if there was a legal way without cost, but The Bible is too high profile a site to risk ignoring their copyrights.

We don’t want Joe sued for copyright infringement!

@Joe, you might want to make a statement on your songs page about why you don’t include the lyrics. That would make it easy for us to point people to that statement when the question arises in the future.

Did they change the copyright on the lyrics or are they still the same?

I always think when I look at the individual sections of the forum that the various topics look too widely spaced. If they were squeezed more tightly together it would be easier to scour each page rather than having to click through numerous pages. So instead of maybe 12 topics per page you would have say 20 or so. Just my own thoughts. I’m also basing this on other non Beatle forums I frequent.

That doesn’t sound bad. As many posts per page as topics per page.

It would me nice if you can make it so regular members can edit their own topic titles.

It would make it easier if there is a spelling mistake or something for the user to fix it.

I’ve increased the number from 12 to 20. I hope that’s OK.

OK, I’m enabling this on a trial basis. People can now edit their own topic titles. Please only use it to fix typos, rather than messing around with old threads. If it doesn’t work out I’ll remove the permission.

Thanks Joe. It’s a credit to you that you listen to feedback. I think it’s better. I thought it would squash the height of each topic down but I guess that that is more difficult operation.

What about the ability to un-thank a post that you’ve thanked on accident?

Dadgumit. I must have too many irons in the fire today. I sent an email about the chemistry journals to the chair of the biology department a few hours ago. He forgave me. @sir walter raleigh’s name is in the directory. I would have sworn I previewed post 393 before submitting it and saw his name in blue. I wanna go home and rest.

Thanks for helping me with my @ts, SG.

Would make people more inclined to make Beatles posts rather than Game or non-Beatles posts.

[oops I didn’t mean to thank that.  Stupid thumb]

Why shouldn’t that count?  It is participation in the forum.  As long as your not spamming, it’s fine.

Since it is a Beatles forum and Beatles related posts should be rewarded more than all together now posts.
