I’m not a fan of “dings” either. It’s bad enough Facebook has a notify sound and I get “dinged” with texts and from Messenger.

It isn’t ideal, but if the number of post is very low (one or two) AND it isn’t a constantly reoccurring thing, then it may be ok.

There are other forums that prefer people to create duplicate threads rather than bump old thread and is even against the rules to bump or use old threads. So that might be one reason why people do that.

There is a thread telling people not to do it but it isn’t in the rules the closest is this rule
Posts may get moved to a more suitable part of the forum, normally if there is an existing discussion on the subject.
But that doesn’t discourage people posting before checking if their is another thread. Maybe if that thread was shown to new members in the welcome to the forum email or the duplicate thread thing be put in the rules since it isn’t as easy of a fix as it used to be.

Offline To replace the topics posted in button with posts made so that it shows all the individual posts a User made instead of where they made them like in the search function, you can search by posts.
It would be more useful for finding posts if there was a ‘posts made’ button instead of the ‘topics posted in’ button.

Offline It looks normal on mobile.
That user doesn’t come on anymore so Joe could probably just edit his signature down.
My suggestion is to make view online activity available to every user. I saw what it looked like during the swap and it didn’t have any private information. I also saw the can veiw online activity permission in the permission section which leads me to believe it isn’t impossible to change.

Offline The problem with your solution, @Starr Shine?, is that that signature is not the only one like that. I know of at least two others by people who still post now and again, and it doesn’t do anything to prevent someone doing exactly the same again tomorrow.
If there’s an easy fix that can be put in place, it would make sense to make use of it.

Offline I’m not aware that the signature box in PC mode is broken, @Starr Shine?. It has been like that since the day I joined.

If my sig is like that then feel free to tell me and I’ll edit it down! It was originally just one line but after the site was updated it went into three.

Although I can limit the size of images in signatures, I don’t think I can impose a character count limit.
I’ve trimmed down the sig mentioned upthread. I’ll do the same for any others that are overlong. So don’t be tempted to copy+paste the litany from God .
I don’t mind a few lines, but please be mindful of those who have to see the words alongside each and every post you make. Thanks!

Offline I’d really like it if you guys went back to one page for the history section so I can just use ctrl-F and type in what I want and find it or just search through the page instead of having to guess what page it’s on and go to that page and look through multiple pages.
Maybe you should try posting more.
