I don’t really want to add loads of smileys unless there’s a clear need for them. As mentioned by others, I did slim down the selection a few years ago, because they weren’t adding or conveying anything, and the sheer number was becoming a bit of a pain.
They’re mostly all black and white, and from AHDN , because that’s the style I chose when I set up the website over a decade ago. The cover of that album has so many different faces that I’d hoped I could just limit it to those, but others have since been added. I’m actually fairly happy with the ones we have, and definitely don’t want to add things like a Sgt Pepper drum or a Yellow Submarine , but could certainly include a smiling Paul. Give me your best suggestions – they’d need to scale down, so no tiny details that would be lost. Beatlemania-era preferred.
On the subject of size, there’s no limit imposed by the forum, but they look a mess if they’re too big. Other forums are free to do their own thing, but I’m not going to recut all the smileys and make them larger.
I probably could include the other wives for the sake of completion, but I won’t do the exis. Let’s keep it manageable. Perhaps Linda, Cynthia, Jane (?), Maureen. I won’t add Nancy, Barbara or Olivia, because they were post-Beatles.

These Pauls are nice and smiley, though the first two may be difficult to cut and and the third one’s not in black and white… I’ll keep looking.

Offline But do they have a purpose? John’s face doesn’t seem to be conveying any emotion besides standoffishness in that picture… it’s hard to tell how he’s feeling when his eyes are hidden.
Here’s a smiley John in a hat that is at least similar to the In His Own Write hat…

Although you may find it more effective to post a picture that you think would make a good smiley, instead of a picture from the era…

I welcome that idea, ’cause frankly I think all those redundant “Hard Day’s night” heads are kind of an eyesore, and most of them could be eliminated. You can hardly telll one from the next, they’re so small and lo-def. And I think they’re overused in general: Employing a smiley to convey a certain tone or commentary is fine, but inserting them into a block of text in place of typing a simple “Paul” or “Ringo” – that really irritates me.Sorry, don’t wanna be a blue meanie or offend anyone, just giving my opinion.
