OK, I've made a few changes to the site. Here are some links, if anyone's interested.

  1. A better history/day-after-day page, listing all the blog posts (these seem to be viewed less than the song/album articles, though it's what I spend more time working on): https://www.beatlesbible.com/history/

Still to come:

  1. More features!
  2. More history/blog posts (follow me on Twitter if you want a proper update, as they don't get listed in the rss/email feeds)
  3. Better/fuller photo galleries. The site's a bit text-heavy (hey, I like words), but there should be a picture on every page ideally. When I get around to it I'll add dozens of pics.

Let me know if you have any other ideas. I'm always glad to hear constructive suggestions.

One other thing to add – a feature on a new book/memorabilia box: Treasures of the Beatles by Terry Burrows: https://www.beatlesbible.com/bo…..y-burrows/

It's a nice little package – a good thing to add to a Christmas list Wink

I'd like to add more book features to the site in time – there are so many out there, most of which seem to have ended up on my shelves… As ever, though, it's a matter of finding the time to do it all justice.

If we find a typo in an article, would you prefer if we posted them in the forum or as comment on the article?

It's up to you, though my preference is for comments to be left on the article itself. I generally don't publish messages pointing out spelling mistakes, though I always make the corrections (and I'm grateful to people for pointing them out).

I recently moved the site to a new server, and some accents on letters became corrupted (eg on the word cliché). When I spot these I'm correcting them, though please let me know of any I've missed.

Good to know. I'll leave a note on the article then.

This is a good idea.  I spotted something a while back (can't remember where now) and wondered whether to say or not! You put so much work into this site Joe that I felt I would have been taking the proverbial by mentioning it…….. Now I know you won't be offended!

New feature: On This Day. It's not on the forum because it uses a slightly different page layout, but if you go to any other part of the site you'll see in the right-hand area a list of links for whichever day it is (I'm not sure what timezone this site operates on, so it may be slightly ahead or behind depending on where you are).

It's something I'd wanted to do for a while but didn't have enough entries in the history blog. Now it's looking a little fuller so I'm glad to have it on the site.

I still have around 60 dates with nothing at all in them, but mostly there's at least something for each day. The history section is far from complete but eventually all The Beatles' activities will show up in there – and in the On This Day box. Hurrah!

Just to clear something up, I'm pretty sure the site operates in GMT+0 time (England time). I live in Queensland, Australia (GMT+10) and when I post during the day, it says I posted 10 hours earlier than I actually did.

Also, I just want to say, as far as I know, this is the best Beatles website in the world! You should be proud of what you have done, Joe. Cool

Yes, it should be set to UK time (Greenwich Mean Time or British Summer Time, depending on the time of year), but my server's hosted in California so I'm never entirely sure what people are seeing elsewhere. Thanks for letting me know about Australia – I'm not sure why it would be 10 hours out, and I don't know whether that can be put right. I think you might have to live with it Frown

Thanks for the kind words about my site. I am very proud, though I've still got plenty to do before I'll stop. The aim, as I've said before, is to make it the best unofficial Beatles site out there – there are a lot of terrible sites out there, but very few truly great ones. I'm not going to try and do everything (lyrics and flashy games are unlikely to feature) but as long as people can find stuff that interests them, I'm happy Laugh

Album of the month for March (on the front page) will be Beatles For Sale . I've just finished writing the feature about it. Does anyone fancy reading through it and checking it for errors? I've got brainfade from staring at the screen for too long…

'Tis here: https://www.beatlesbible.com/a…..-for-sale/

Please leave any corrections in the comments box on the page. I won't publish them, but if you fancy commenting on the album itself, please do.

Joe – what’s happened? The colour of the site web pages has changed and when reading threads, some of the fonts are so small I can hardly read them!!

I’ve just had to upgrade this forum software. A few things may be broken – I’ve noticed some avatars have vanished, though I’m not sure why. Sorry about that – if yours is missing please go to your profile page and upload another. I don’t think the absent ones are recoverable.

The other thing I’ve noticed is that the font size looks a little smaller. I’ll have a look at the css when I have a bit more time, hopefully tomorrow.

If you spot anything else that doesn’t work, please post a reply here.

Hold fire on the magnifying glass – should be sorted now. Please let me know if any other font sizes look odd, though.

I’ll look at the post count thing now. Glad the smileys are back.

EDIT are you sure it’s not working? My count just went up from 315 to 316 with this message. I’m not sure why it would stop, but I’ll take a look.

No, hang in there. I’ll keep an eye out for a fix. Sorry…

The smileys are showing up for me. I’m not sure why they’d come and go. I do know that they don’t ever show up when you edit a message (not sure why), but they should be there for new posts.

Gah. The problems of using third-party software. This forum plugin is generally very good, but it does need a bit of tweaking to get it working correctly.
