I just saw a documentary program from the Swedish television corporation (SVT) about the year of 1967. There was a large segment from October 14-15 1967, when the small town of Falsterbo, located at the south-western tip of Sweden, in Skåne was visited by George Harrison and Paul McCartney . They were there to visit the Maharishi, who was holding a course there at the time.
I tried to look up the dates October 14-15 in Mark Lewisohns Beatles Chronicle, and on the beatlesbible.com, but neither the book or the great Beatles Bible site, which I love, has any entries for these dates.
I just wonder why. This event – the visit of half of the Beatles to a small place in Sweden in October 1967 – was a big thing in Sweden of course.
Joe – do you have any opinions on this? Why this event has “gone under the radar” for Lewisohn and you? (yet) Just curious.
I guess the dates will be covered eventually, and of course extensively in volume 3 of Tune In, whenever that will be released.
By the way – a pretty girl who was 22 years old then and also went there the see the Maharishi was interviewed for the documentary. He showed interest in her, she fell in love, and they soon became lovers. Maharishi took her with him on his tours the next couple of years. The relationship ended when she found out that the Maharishi really liked young pretty western girls, had plenty of young girlfriends around Europe, and the Swedish girl did not want to be part of a Maharishi harem.
