Hello all! Appreciate all the responses. I did talk a bit with the girl at work about why she hates The Beatles and her reasoning was (get ready for this) because they are old and two of them are dead. Based on that logic I started to care a lot less if I pleased her. I did however ask her what her fav band is, which was avenged sevenfold so I threw a couple songs by them on there. And I looked at the playlist and I overstated my 10% a little. 36/500 songs are The Beatles. All song from Rubber Soul –Let It Be minus 2.
On a similar note, at my previous job there was this one worker who also hated The Beatles. One day Live And Let Die came on the radio and another worker said “peter do you hate this song?” He said no, but this is Paul McCartney , not The Beatles”
Peoples these days!

To the fountain of perpetual mirth, let it roll for all its worth. And all the children boogie.

The point of the thread was more “should i cater to the beatles hates interests” or just say screw it and keep on rockin. Also a welcome opprotunity for anyone else to discuss their run ins with the less fortunate.
Go with the second option my friend.
In my experiences with people who don’t see eye to eye with me on things like music, i usually don’t bother having music-centered conversations with them. I know a guy who doesn’t think the beatles are all that great, but he loves Janet Jackson. There is zero sense in me trying to convinse him otherwise. Not worth the effort.

See, now, I think Redlennon should respect the wishes of the co-worker, however lousy her musical tastes and truly idiotic reasoning for same. Some accomodation should be in order, regardless of whether they have lousy tastes or not. Like I said, I’d hate to be subjected to music I hated while trying to do a difficult and stressful job all day, every day! If her co-worker has her own equal turn to bring in her own iPod with her own music, then I see no problem.
Paul: Yeah well… first of all, we’re bringing out a ‘Stamp Out Detroit’ campaign.

Or you could do what me and my sister do. We have very different tastes in music but will she agree with me to play our music in a rota kind of way so that she plays hers for a while and then me and like that….? No. So we just play our (very) different music at the same time! In separate rooms but you can occasionly hear the sound of dubstep or Rita Ora (is that right?) coming through ”my music”. Rap + The Beatles, for example = not good.
Actually don’t do that. Just thought I´d share the pain.

She does. I dont know why but people choose not to bring their own Ipods in. I ask every shift if anyone wants to put their ipod in and no one ever has one. Cant say I didnt try
I think some people are sort of self conscious of the music they listen to. The place I work we usually get 400-500 customers per shift. Just my guess. But I love the music I listen to and want to try an educate and culture the upcoming youth on what some real tunes sound like!
