Joe has a review on here somewhere. He is probably the opinion to seek. But, if my memory serves correct, Joe claimed it to be far deeper into Indian music then you saw in the Beatles, but it can be very gratifying. Something along those lines. But I personally don’t own it.

Has anyone bought and listened to the Ravi Shankar and George Harrison Collaboration box set that came out? If so, any opinions you care to share? I can't decide if I want to get it or not..
I purchased the box set in December. Once again, this is basically a Ravi Shankar set and if you don't like sitar and indian music, then you will probably not like this. George helped and produced the albums with Ravi. The packaging is very elaborate. It is numbered and has a very nice hard cover book inside with photos that I have never seen before. The photos are glossy and adds a lot to the book. As far as the music goes, my favorite is the 'Chants Of India' which was the last collaboration between the two. I use this a lot for Yoga practice.

Well I just found out that one of Ravi's members of his ensemble has visa problems so they have move the concert in San Francisco from next Thursday to October 7th. Now I have to wait a few more months and I was so excited about next week. Well, I guess patience is a virtue.

Hard cheese, Inner Light.
I was just going to post that next week at this time we should be reading your reviews of the show. Everything happens for a reason.
One of his sitar players has visa problems. In the meantime, your sitar playing gets more and more awesome. By October, Ravi gets fed up with said sitar player, hears about your awesomeness and invites you too sit in with the ensemble.
Problem solved.

Excellent. I would love that. I guess I better step up the practicing.

Awesome Inner Light!! We would love to have a review when you watch it!
And Happy Birthday Ravi
Well I finally got to see the Ravi Shankar concert on Friday night at the Davies Symphony Hall in San Francisco. For me, it was an inspiring show. He played for about 90 minutes and does not sit in the cross legged position anymore due to his age but sat upright the whole time without back support. He is truly amazing. He still plays the sitar with accuracy, emotion and soul. Tanmoy Bose his Tabla player was also with him along with 5 other musicians.
I am so inspired to continue to learn and play my sitar and have been very humbled at the fact I was able to see him perform one last time. My last show was with George in 1974. He now has a white beard and walks with a cane but still has the same charisma as he did the last time I saw him Live.
Here is a link to the show he did a few days before mine in Southern California.

I could finally manage watching Concert for George and I loved the first section. I might start getting into his music.

Sounds like it was definitely worth the wait, Inner Light. I love that picture of him in the article you posted. If I am fortunate enough to reach age 91, I hope I am equally as fortunate to look that good.
I am with mith in that I really enjoy the first part of the Concert For George. The more I hear it, the more I like it.
Keep us posted on your progress with the sitar.
