Just heard this song today. It’s quite lovely. Really upbeat and serious at the same time. If you haven’t heard it…

It seems like it’s a rather obscure George song.

Doesn’t really sound like a George song! It sounds more like a John song, almost.

But it is a rather nice song! Thanks for the discovery, @Evangeline

Awaiting On You All has always been one of my favorite songs off All Things Must Pass . Phil Spector and George were on the exact same page when recording. I’m not sure how they did it but they created a beautiful angelic feel with orchestration that surrounds a melody line so genius it must have been given to George directly from God

Contains one of the greatest lines against the Pope, and Catholic church, ever made anywhere.

And while the Pope owns fifty one percent of General Motors
And the stock exchange is the only thing he’s qualified to quote us

I first heard this song yesterday and it quickly became my favourite on All Things Must Pass . I listened to it this morning while I made my tea, and to be honest I feel pretty great! It’s the perfect morning song. I do have a long day ahead of me, so I needed to start it off right. This song was perfect.

I really like the horns, and percussion. They really nailed the percussion on this record.

ahdn_paul_06 I know exactly what you mean. When I was a teenager, the first song of the day set the tone and mood for what was to come. In 1966-67, I probably started 100 days with Tomorrow Never Knows .

This is the demo of Awaiting On You All which also makes me smile as the sun is coming up. ahdn_george_06

Love that demo SB. In some cases on ATMP the production from Spector can take away from the song in its purest form. In this case I think the wall of sound adds a ton to the feeling of this song as a religious experience. It isnt perfect, definitely sounds very wet with tons of reverb and could be a little bit more crisp, but overall the fusion of songwriting and production is phenomenal here.
