Supposedly, Elvis, Bob Dylan and George Harrison were scheduled to record together in the 70's. According to Dylan, Elvis showed up but he and George didn't.

That's from the interview I linked to yesterday, @Expert Textpert, and I think the line is a joke.
Dylan's asked if there's any truth in the rumour he, George and Elvis planned a session together but Elvis stood them up. Bob shoots back that it was him and George that stood up Elvis.
Doesn't seem to me that Bob's moved it out of the land of myth, just that he's punned with the "dust of rumors that covers" him.

That's why I added "supposedly." I'm not sure if it's a joke or not. You don't get tone of voice or facial expressions from reading it on the screen, so we don't really know.
One might say that if there were such a collaboration planned we would know about it already...but then there were sufficient rumors for the interviewer to ask the question, so he must have heard about it.
But yes, you could be right and it's just a joke, but Rolling Stone is not reporting it that way.
