Has anyone seen this, or plan to order it? I don't know enough about their work together to justify the price. There are individual albums for $10 I might consider, but which one?

I've just been offered a review copy of this. TBH I'm not sure how much Indian music I can handle, but I'll give it a go. Will report back when it arrives.

Less so when they're just promo CDs without the lovely packaging. Still, I'll cope.

My thoughts are here: https://www.beatlesbible.com/p…..i-shankar/

In short, if you're a Ravi Shankar fan and have a bit of spare cash, then probably. If you're hoping to hear George's vocals you might be disappointed. The Shankar Family & Friends album is worth getting hold of, though, as it's got Ringo, Billy Preston and Klaus on it.

I just got the box set. They did a great job on the packaging. I also comes with a letter of authenticity. It is a little pricey but the value should hold up well.

The further one travels, the less one knows

Just got it today – looks very nice.  Mine is 2nd-hand but looks in very good shape; it still cost me a lot but I like to support the only decent 2nd-hand music store still open in Canberra – so much for my credit card recovering :)

I have one quick question of anyone who has it regarding the packaging; does the DVD come with any liner notes or program listing?  My 3 CDs each have what looks like the original liner notes but there is nothing inside the DVD sleeve.  I tried a search on the net but couldn’t get an answer to that one.

[EDIT] You have to laugh sometimes.  I found an unboxing video on the tube and it went exhaustively through every part of the box and the CDs  – and when it got to the DVD – the video jumped forward to them holding the disc.  It looks like there may not be a leaflet but it’s difficult to be sure.

It’s an awesome-looking box which I was very happy to find at a 2nd-hand store.

But it’s still on my “getting there one day” listening list 🙂

I didn’t get the full box set, I only got promo CDs of the albums. As I said upthread, the Shankar Family is probably the most accessible to Western listeners. Give that a spin if nothing else.
