For all you Harrifans out there, you gotta watch his “Living In The Material World ” DVD docu. It’s long, but really good!Lots of detail on his great songs from that album and others.
That’s an awesome show by the undisputed master of rock documentaries, Martin Scorcese. In the states it airs on HBO occasionally. There’s an entire thread devoted to it here. It’s been dormant for 2 years – I think it needs a nudge! The show has a permanent 3% of my dvr space 😉 If you haven’t yet seen it, you must do so asap!

hehe…Mr. Canberra’s opinion is well respected, and I will tone my rhetoric down to (well, towards) his level: It’s a must see for all Beatles fans, let alone George fans, but if you leave it until next weekend that’s ok. What’s that you say? Next weekend has started for you already @trcanberra? Well, ye best be watchin’ it 😉
I’m high – not on drugs..well, I had a couple drinks (see my post in ‘what’s happening in your life’) – it’s just been a fun evening 🙂

I listened to this album yesterday and fell further in love with it. Got to get it into my life ASAP!
‘I’d Have You Anytime ‘ and ‘Behind That Locked Door ‘ make me wonder if we should start a ‘Did George Harrison Have Gay Leanings?’ thread…

Didn’t Tony Bramwell or someone along those lines (The “Inner Circle”) say if there was any Beatle that even had a hint of being-anything-but-straight it was George because he was willing to try anything?
I feel like such a perv remembering that part of the book but what can I say?

All Things Must Pass is such an excellent album. The title track is simply incredible and easily the best song on the whole album. What I like most is how it goes from negative (sunset doesn’t last all morning) to positive in the last verse (it’s not always going to be this grey). The lyrics are simple but they express it’s message very well.
What Is Life is another highlight with the awesome horn section. My Sweet Lord is great to, the chords are awesome and the drum pick up 2 minutes in is really cool. A good drum entry always makes a song. Apple Scruffs is good, the harmonica bit is neat. I really like Behind That Locked Door and Run Of The Mill . Also Art Of Dying with that rad guitar intro.
This might be the best Beatles solo album. I haven’t listened to enough to judge though.

Having listened to a lot of them – it’s certainly a strong competitor.

It very well could have been if the Apple Jam had been omitted. They have to bring it down a touch as you cant just ignore 1/3 of an album when assessing it.
Oh, you can’t?
Pity that.

Trying once again to decide between ATMP or ATMP (2001). The former has all the songs on one disk (nice and neat, and I don’t have much space in my CD book– too much Beatles 😀 ), whereas the latter is on two disks– but it has the acoustic Let It Down , which I reeeeeeeeaaaaaaally want (I think I can do without the other bonus tracks for a little longer. Particularly My Sweet Lord 2000 ).
I wish they’d just tack the bonus tracks on the end like most CDs, instead of reformatting the whole album!

I used to think so, I’m not so sure now. I listened to the Jam again the other night on its own and really enjoyed it. Not something I listen to all the time, but not enough to bring it down a touch for me now either.

‘ATMP 2001′ also has the Jam tracks reordered @Beatlebug, the way George originally wanted them.
Oh, and you need to hear ‘I Live For You’ which is one of the other bonus tracks. It’s awesome. I played it an insane amount of times when i got the CD.
And i dont know if you know or not but George added bits to the acoustic ‘Let It Down ‘; the original undubbed is out there and its better.
I want the ‘Anthology 3 ‘ demo of ‘All Things Must Pass ‘ played at my funeral.

meanmistermustard, you’re not helping me at all. I suppose there is no help for it but to get both; I’m getting the original first though, as it just makes sense. We can pretend it’s 1971.

Why do you want both anyway? ‘All Things Must Pass ‘ has always been a 2 cd set. It wouldnt fit on one disc as it runs well over the 80 minutes a cd can hold.

Oh really?… I must have been mis-informed. Anyway, I’ve made my decision and I’m sticking to it.

You’re going to buy the same songs twice?
