But how many JL compilations are there, for most people if you have one, you have them all – regardless of whether it’s an Ultimate Mix. How many of us here bought Give Me Some Truth? There were no new things on that compilation either, ATMP on the other hand has got a nice chunk of goodies for those interested and I imagine most people on here are going to listen to at least a few tracks from ATMP .
I had no idea ‘GMST’ got to number 3; haven’t bought it and doubt I ever will.

I bought Gimme Some Truth .
In other news, my All Things box arrived with a bumped corner as usual, thanks to the postal service.

As did the recent John Lennon /Plastic Ono Band Ultimate Collection, which didn’t even make the Top 10.It’d be nice to see a solo archive release by one of them top the charts, but that seems reserved to The Beatles as a group rather than them as solo artists.
ATMP has opened at Number 6 – he’s clearly the nation’s favourite dead Beatle 😉

How was it #31 last week? Is ‘London Town ‘ sitting at #83?

Well of course, he doesn’t have that Lennon/McCartney song credit money, nor is My Sweet Lord anywhere close to Imagine in cultural icon-ness.

It should also be noted the JL/POB UC ended up being released during a UK lockdown, @AppleScruffJunior, which meant dinosaurs like me who still use cash couldn’t buy it the week of release by making a physical purchase in a shop. I had to wait a while until the record shops were open. No such problem with getting access to buy ATMP . Bought and paid for in a record shop with cash.

Teeth also cost more than toast.
As soon as Olivia and Dhani sanction the official ‘Here Comes The Moon-pie’ the gap will be significantly closed. Would go wonderfully with the Imagine ice cream. May even lead to some official Macca-damia nuts.

Dhani Harrison just posted on instagram that All Things has become a Top 10 Album again. Its #6 in the UK, #2 in the US and even #2 here in Germany

Apologies if this has been asked before, but do we know which songs George actually wrote for ‘All Things Must Pass ‘, as opposed to songs that he had lying around from his Beatle days and were there enough of them to make a good single album? I guess we could count ones written after the ‘Get Back ‘ sessions?

ATMP , Hear Me Lord , Let It Down , and Isn’t It A Pity were demoed during the Get Back sessions. Wah-Wah wasn’t demoed but we know it was written during that time. Beware Of Darkness we don’t know when exactly it was written but since it was likely written about the prevailing financial troubles of the band I won’t count it as a full blown ATMP track since it was likely written in 69. Remove the Dylan cover If Not For You , and just for the sake of consistency take out their collaboration I’d Have You Any Time. That leaves the rest of the album including the Apple Jams. If anybody can fill in some details or correct me that would be great because this is just from memory and looking through my demos. I have a copy of I Me Mine sitting right here so I can go through and double check.

hey Walt, I believe Art Of Dying is the oldest song on the album. As I recall, it dates back to George’s first experience with psychedelic drugs.

All I know is All Things Must Pass is an absolutely superior album from G.H. So well-rounded. So good. So timeless. An absolute masterpiece.
