Does anyone know which versions of the CD have the original Spector mix? I don’t know whether I own it.
The 30th anniversary (the one with the ””interesting”” update of My Sweet Lord on it) or the 2014 remaster are the available options.
I read that the 2001 one was the beginning of the stripping away of the wall of sound. So I guess the 1980s CD is the only one true to the original. I think I used to own it a long time ago and remember it not actually sounding that great. I’ve heard that the original vinyl sounds best.

I wonder if Paul and Ringo will buy Uber Deluxe Boxsets?
I imagine they get them for free, as a wise man once said ‘free to those who can afford it, very expensive to those that can’t’.

George stated a desire to remix the album but didn’t at that point with that release, the same as with ‘IATM’ where he stated the mix was far too overblown for his liking.
From an MSN Live interview in 2000 (second post)
What is the difference between the old and new release if any?
George Harrison says:
The new release is remastered and is much much better to the record that existed up until now and it has five bonus tracks on it. It also has new packaging.

I read that he made changes but they weren’t significant because of the available technology.

It’s wrong. There are discussions online in forums and it’s very evident that no remixing was done. George in the booklet is saying he found some of the mixes very buried by Spector’s production but resisted the urge to remix them. He’s clear in interviews at the time it was a remaster only, and it was from cleaner studio tapes with a whole lot of noise reduction applied.

Ken Scott and Jon Astley who did the 2001 thought there was way too much reverb and wanted to remix, but were told by EMI that George wanted no remixing, just a better version of the original mixes. The only tracks any work was on, some substantial, were the bonus tracks. The original album was remastered not remixed, on George’s express instructions.

I actually canceled my order. Apparently I researched the different versions and compared them several years ago and then forgot all about it, lol. I have the 2001 one and the 2014 one. I used to have the original US CD release and I’m pretty sure I compared it to the other ones and then sold it back. It’s confusing because there are a lot of websites that have incorrect information.
Apparently the 1987 Japanese version is supposed to be good. I might look for that one sometime.

‘All Things Must Pass ‘ is an excellent album. The Uber Deluxe Box Set looks great, but I will be getting the 3CD version.

It does look great, but really you’re just paying 1,000 dollars for a bit of wood from a tree and some pewter gnomes. The music is the same.

Yeah. They look great but would be expecting far more than cheap plastic when paying $1,000 for a limited edition box.

Just got into getting George’s Solo LPs and I couldnt find a new All Things Must Pass Set anywhere. So I consider myself lucky that they announced that 50th Anniversary set. Getting closer to a complete collection!
Preordered the 3 Disc Edition. Its only with the Fab Four together where I get the ÜBER Stuff!
