Yep, @Beatlebug, it’s Nicky Hopkins on piano on Give Me Love (Give Me Peace on Earth), the organ is Gary Wright.

Yesterday while listening to an interview of George which had snippets of music in it I heard this song, and I recognised it– it was from Living In The Material World . The song stayed with me all night long, even in my dreams, I think. But I couldn’t think for the life of me what the title was, though I could hear the song in perfect clarity in my head. These lines kept going over:
I only ask that what I feel
Should not be denied me now
As it’s been earned, and
I have seen my life belongs to me
My love belongs to who…
only not that clearly– I had to consult a lyrics website for that snippet. Clear pronunciation has never been George’s forte…
So this morning, as soon as I got up, I had to go find a YouTube of the album, and I looked over the tracklist– it wasn’t Give Me Love or Sue Me, Sue You Blues or The Light That Has Lighted The World or Don’t Let Me Wait Too Long– and then I spotted Who Can See It which I didn’t remember and so I listened to that one, and that was the one– the very first one I tried. Cool!
I would *PWT* but I’m not actually that tired… so PWH I guess, cause I haven’t had breakfast yet? Or because George’s fabosity has me up near the ceiling?… something like that…

I just gotta say, George’s falsetto lead vocals on this album are absolutely wonderful. Actually all his vocals. Gorgeously heartfelt and plaintive on every track (where suitable, that is; ‘Sue Me’ isn’t exactly plaintive). The slight crack or grit or weakness or whatever imperfection in his voice only makes them the more powerful.
If there’s anything that gets close to moving me to tears, it’s George, sounding on the verge of tears himself, crooning ‘that is aaaalllll I’m waiting for, please let me love you more’. Melts my heart every time, and says everything that he finds hard to say with useless words getting in his way.
I also think this is one of his very best-produced albums– tasteful (compare with the synth-fest that was Thirty Three & 1/3), not overdone (as opposed to some parts of ATMP ), not too dated as some of them tended to be (I’m looking at you, Cloud 9). Plus the songwriting is top-class. A worthy successor to the truly epic All Things Must Pass , in my opinion.
(Now, please note that these small criticisms of the production do in no way detract from my enjoyment or appreciation of said albums. )

Greetings all and happy new year.
I have both a first pressing (completely knackered) and 2014 remaster of this wonderful album on vinyl, and away from the songs, Ive always been intrigued by the inner ‘Last Supper’ photo, taken in Abe Somer’s garden in California. The remaster LP comes with a booklet that gives us some more shots taken that day.
So, thanks to the technology of Google Earth and Streetview, its easy to explore the photo location from the comfort of your home.
I’ve put a link to where the shot was taken. Using the ‘3D’ and zoom in/out and pan buttons, its good to explore. It looks like the garage has had some roof alterations and there has been some flower beds and maybe a pool (where the photographer stood) added.

And from Streetview, I imagine this would be the entrance to the house that they were all taken through. I’m a nerd, I love this stuff 🙂

It’s great that you can adjust the date (year) of the streetview pictures to witness changes (like the resurfacing of the road).
Hope those links work. Enjoy!
