Here’s a game I just thought up just now

Basically, you have to say something to do with The Beatles’ journey that if it had gone amiss then everything might have been different.

For example:

User 1: What if The Beatles had never went on the Ed Sullivan show?
User 2: What if The Beatles’ plane to America had delayed so they never got the chance to go on the Ed Sullivan show?

User 3: What if The Beatles booked the wrong plane so they would never have gotten on the plane that was delayed?

I think you’ve got the idea :) IT HAS TO LINK WITH THE PREVIOUS USER’S ‘WHAT IF’

I’ll start.

What if The Beatles disagreed for the filming of ‘A Hard Day’s Night ‘?

Sorry, I forgot to mention; it has to link to the previous user’s ‘what if’

So i presume i go with the first what if.

What if AHDN had been a flop?

I have always thought “What if JFK did not die? Would The Beatles have made that big of impact on America or would they have just faded like some other pop group?”

What if AHDN had been done by different actors than The Beatles, which made it a flop?

By the way, I agree sky

It would have had less of an impact and the cartoon show of the era may have gone on longer and the characters may have been voiced by the actual Beatles.

What if they had never developed their sound into different territories around the Rubber Soul period?

You’re okay, TheBeatlesJohn, in my opinion.

I took a look at the other thread when unknown pointed it out. There are differences. The most obvious being that yours is a “What if The Beatles…?” whereas the earlier thread is a general “What if…?”. In both threads I could post, for instance, “What if George hadn’t invited Billy Preston along to the Get Back sessions?” However, if I posted “What if Tim Berners-Lee hadn’t come up with the interweb?” in this thread, someone like me would give me a big

stay-on-topic

whereas that would be a fine “What if…?” in the Willy Wonka thread.

So far as I’m concerned, while the threads have one thing in common, they have major differences. I’m happy to leave this thread as a separate entity. Had I thought it too similar, I’d have merged them, but I don’t, so I haven’t.

Totally agree, mja. I was going to say something similar during my 2:31 am pear snack time, but I decided to wait to see if a  mod would jump in and clear up the matter. Thanks.

So, TheBeatlesJohn, do we want to go back to my question, Scoun’s question, or start with a new one?

The Saturday morning cartoon was inspired by the antics of AHDN and Help ! so I shudder to think if we didn’t have the actual movies and only had the badly-voiced alternative.

ASJ, you crack me up to no end.

Question:

What if George and Billy had both blown the sessions off and went of to start their own band?

note:I am not that good at Beatles history yet, so if this question doesn’t make any sense, someone save me by just picking back up with mja’s question. Deal?

Okay, I guess no one’s going to answer my “What if”. I’ll just go sulk in the corner now. Bye. :(

Not a bad “What if…?” at all Ahhh Girl, follows mine directly. I was aiming at what happened if George hadn’t brought in a “fifth Beatle” to settle the mood, and he could just have easily have said, “Billy, fancy making a record with me?”

Scoun, I just find it impossible to imagine them still sounding like the Rubber Soul band in 1969, no more than I can imagine sounding like the Love Me Do band in 1965.

The Beatles did return to Love Me Do in in ’69 but a very different approach to the song musically (and i don’t mean half-arsed).

Are we allowed to answer these with thoughts?

What if the first Get Back album was issued in ’69 instead of being rejected?
