Groups or artists who covered Beatle songs to some chart success (must be canon songs – none of the ‘given away’ songs)

1. Tiffany – I Saw Him Standing There  (horror upon horrors, this was a robustly-charting single)

Shirley Bassey was great! (Oasis were pretty terrible tho.)
1. Tiffany – I Saw Him Standing There (horror upon horrors, this was a robustly-charting single)
2. Elton John – Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds
3. Sam and Mark – With A Little Help From My Friends (dreadful but not the worst beatle cover ever by any means)
4. Grapefruit – Ob La Di, Ob La Da
5. Joe Cocker – With A Little Help From My Friends (how could I forget this, I love that version (more than the beatles one; sorry ringo)
6. Earth Wind & Fire – Got To Get You Into My Life
7. Oasis- I Am The Walrus
8. Shirely Bassey – Something (man im remembering dreaful covers by dreadful artists – thanks Top of The Pops 2)
9. Aerosmith – Come Together

[Notice that since Joe Cocker’s “I’ll Cry Instead ” did not make the charts, as Satan specified, I’ve taken the liberty of replacing it with the Grapefruit song instead.]

Paul: Yeah well… first of all, we’re bringing out a ‘Stamp Out Detroit’ campaign.

Did Oasis’s cover of I Am The Walrus ? I know next to nothing of Oasis but thought that was a one off for a bbc show. I am probably wrong so apologies if so. I actually dont care however – their covered sucked.

(I only bothered to investigate the Joe Cocker since fabfouremily boldly admitted not knowing if it was a chart single at all!)

Paul: Yeah well… first of all, we’re bringing out a ‘Stamp Out Detroit’ campaign.

Yeah, we don’t have to split hairs too much on this one.  Notable covers are good enough.
